Shirley McCrary of Butler, GA, is graduating from. Xavier
High School in Cedar Rapids, This Fall, he will attend Coe
College in Cedar Rapids, where he will continue his aca
demic and basketball career.

Charlie J. “C.J.” Couch, 52,
died April 30, 2020, at Colum
bus Hospice,
Funeral services were held
Saturday, May 9, 2020, at 2
p.m., at Powell Baptist Church
in Talbotton, GA, with Rev,
Alfred Biggs officiating. Inter
ment followed in the church
cemetery.
He was born July 7, 1967, to
the late Charlie J. Couch, Sr,
and Glenda Daniel Couch. Flo
attended Central High School,
a member of the Class of 1986,
He was a living example of
Ephesians 4:32, 'And be kind
compassionate to one another,
forgiving one another, just as
God also for gave you to Christ”
He loved his family and worked
for the City of Talbotton in his
early years. He was often found
at the QuickSpot in Talbotton,
where he was there to help any
one and never asked for any
thing in return, whether it was
pumping your gas, vacuuming
your car, or putting air in your
tires.

his parents, Charlie J. Couch.

his grandparents, Spenser and
Marie Daniel and Julian and
Mary Ethel Couch; aunts, Rosie

He is survived by his son,
Charlie J. Washington; step
daughter. Ashley Washington;
one reared as his own. Ebony
Collier; grandchildren, Carter

Clinton Forbes, 69, died Sun
day, May 3, 2020.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, May 9, 2020, at 11
a. m., at Bentley-Montford Mor
tuary in Butler, GA, with mili
tary recognition and Patty
Bentley officiating.
He was born April 7, 1951, to
Clinton Forbes and Florence
Mae Forbes.
He served his country honor
ably in the United States Army
during the Vietnam War era.
He received art honorable dis
charge as Private El. Years
later, he married Betty Tho
mas on Nov. 24,1991. lie will
be fondly remembered as being
the number one checkers player
and great hair stylist around
Taylor and Talbot counties.
He was preceded in death by

Forbes, and sister, Mary Flo
rence Forbes.
He is survived by his wife,
Betty Thomas Forbes; a few of
his 30 children, Clinton Forbes,
Kendra Forbes-Lindley,
LaQuisha Forbes, Alexis

The Flint Area Consolidated Housing Authority (hereinafter referred
toasthe “HA”) is the public housing agency f or thecities of Montezuma,
Oglethorpe, Butler, Reynolds, and Marshalivifle, Georgia. The HA
provides safe, decent, sanitary housing for low income families.
The HA is seeking a firm to provide architectural and engineering
services for consultation on new development projects, moderniza
tion efforts, and any other such needs that may from time to time arise
requiring the professional services of an architect or engineer.
Respondents are requested to contact the Administrative Coordina
tor, Brenda Gay, at 478-472-8209 ext. 202 for a copy of RFQ. Requests
will be due back June 17, 2020, by 4:30 p.m. Requests received after

To the Citizens of Taylor County and the Voters of District 4:
I am running for District 4 County Commissioner. I am a graduate of
Taylor County High School and have an AAS degree in Electrical Trans
mission System Technology. I will complete my BS degree in Energy Man
agement this summer. 1 am married and have 3 boys. I worked for the
Taylor County Sheriff’s Office for 3 years, before I accepted a job at Flint
Energies, which is where I am currently employed, I have been a Volunteer
Fire Fighter for Butler Fire Department for 22 years. I have volunteered as
a baseball coach and was the Taylor County High School Band Booster
President for 5 years. I am currently on the State Board of Directors for
the NWTF (National Wild Turkey Federation),
During my campaign, many have asked “Why do you want this head
ache?” My answer is simple. I do not feel I should complain about things
without trying to make a difference myself. I am not a politician, hut hope
with your vote I’ll be able to make our county even better. I believe in
working for all citizens to make our community better as a whole.
When I announced that I was running as Commissioner, I said 1 would
do my best to visit each of you. Well, that did not happen with us being
under orders from the Governor to shelter-in-place. To the neighbors that
opened your door and allowed me to talk to you, “Thank you.” To those
that I have not seen or if you did not receive a post card from me, then
please take this letter as my way of asking for your support for Taylor
County Commissioner District 4.1 feel that with my leadership experience
and your vote, we can improve many areas in Taylor County, that will
benefit all of us. Please feel free to contact me at 478-954-2269 with any
