The Taylor County News Calendar Girl for May was Jes
sica Withrow, Jessica is a 2020 Honor Graduate of Taylor
County High School, where she was Drum Major for the
Marching Band, Battalion Commander for JROTC, Stu
dent CounciTPresident, One Act Co-President, Literary Vice
President, 4-H Council President, and a member of Beta
Club and the Principal’s Student Committee. She is a mem
ber of Community Fellowship in Reynolds, where she is a
member of the Praise Band. Jessica plans to a ttend Geor-
gia State University to pursue a degree in Special Educa
tion for Primary Grades. She is the daughter of Scott a nd
Michelle Moulton. Her gra ndparents are Cyndi and John
Simmon^ The Calendar Girl is a monthly feature of Tay
lor County High School and The Taylor County News.
Calendar Girls are chosen based on academics } extracur
ricular activity, personality, and character.

Jessie Palmer was named The Taylor County News Calen
dar Guy for May. Jessie is a2020graduate of Taylor County
High School, where he was a m ember of the Tennis Team
and Key Club. He plans to attend Georgia Southwestern
State University and attends White Water Baptist Church.
Jessie is the son of Ginger Palmer and Jessie and Kristy
Palmer He has a brother, Jacob Palmer, a stepsister,
Hannah Elliot, and a stepbrother, Miles Elliot. Ills grand
parents are Mark and June Skyrm, Gail Smith, and the
late Kenny Smith. The Calendar Guy is chosen based on
academics, extracurricular activities, personality r and char
acter. The Calendar Guy is a monthly feature of The Tay
lor County News and Taylor County High School.

The Taylor County Courthouse reopened June 2, 2020!
The Superior/Juvenile and Magistrate/Probate Courts
will resume normal operating hours from 8 a.m. to 5
p.m.
While we are eager to see everyone, we do ask that
you adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Centers
for Disease Control, Though not mandatory, we strongly
suggest the use of a cloth face cover or mask to help us
keep our employees and community safe.
Thank you for your continued cooperation during this
unprecedented time.

Superior and Juvenile Courts
Primary Elections Are Tuesday, June 9
Early voting for the Primary
Election began May 18th, and
will end this Friday, June 5th.
The Primary Election will be
held Tuesday, -June 9th, with
polls open from 7 a.m. until 7
p.m. Absentee ballots were
mailed to 1,831 registered vot
ers in the county, and as of June
1st, Taylor County Chief Voter
Registrar and Election Super
intendent Mindy Bass reported
that 826 absentee ballots have
been returned. Also, there have
been 260 early voters.
Locally, Lisa McDonald will
appear on the Democratic bal
lot for Clerk of Superior Court,
Teresa Winsor will appear on
the Republican ballot for Clerk
of Superior Court. They will
face off in the November Gen
eral Election,
On the Democratic ballot,
Dianne Renfroe will appear - for
Probate Judge, and Shirley
Graham for Tax Commissioner,
They are unopposed and will
appear on the November ballot.
Gary Lowe will appear on the
Republican ballot for Coroner,
and Jeff Watson will appear on
the Republican ballot for Sher
iff. They are unopposed.
The Taylor County Board of
Commissioners will he deter
mined in the primary. On the
Democratic ballot, Cicero
Latimore for District 1,
Tamcka Harris for District 2,
and Milton Harris for District
3 are unopposed. On the Re
publican ballot, voters will
choose between W. Robert Pea
cock and Keith Poole for Dis
trict 4 and Randy Nelson and
Danny Peed for District 5, Win
ners will appear on the Novem
ber ballot uncontested.
The Taylor County Board of
Education will not be totally
determined until the General
Election in November. In Dis
trict 1, Glenda Latimore will
appear on the Democratic bal
lot unopposed, Mary Bentley
will be on the Democratic bal
lot for District 2, and Mitchell
Harris will appear on the Re
publican ballot for District 2,
They will face off in November,
The District 3, District 4, and
District 5 Board of Education
seats will be determined dur
ing the primary, on the Repub
lican ballot. For District 3, it
will be Greg Brown and Nick
Pandolff Wayne Mclnvale, II
and Russell Pounds are vying
for the District 4 scat, and
Cindy Barrow Hancock and
Wes Summers are each seeking
the District 5 seat.

For President of the United
States, Donald J. Trump will
appear on the Republican bal
lot. On the Democratic ballot
are: Michael Bennet, Joseph R,
Biden, Michael R, Bloomberg,
Pete Buttigieg, John K,
Delaney Tblsi Gabbard, Amy
Klobuchar, Deval Patrick,
Bernie Sanders, Tom Sleyer.
Elizabeth Warren, and Andrew
Yang. All have suspended their
campaigns, except Joseph
Biden, who will face Trump in
November.
For United States Senate,
David Perdue, incumbent, is
the sole candidate on the Re
publican ballot. Democrats will
choose among Sarah Riggs
Amico, Marckeith DeJesus,
James Knox, Tricia Carpenter
McCracken, Jon Ossoff, Maya
Dillard Smith, and Teresa Pike
Tomlinson, The winner will
face Perdue in November.
For Public Service Commis
sioner, Jason Shaw is on the
Republican ballot and Robert
G. Bryant is on the Democratic
ballot. The seat will be deter
mined in November,
Also for Public Service Com
missioner, Daniel Blackman
and John Noel will be on the
Democratic ballot, and Lauren
Bubba McDonald, Jr. will be on
the Republican ballot. The
Democratic winner will face
McDonald in November.
For U.S, Representative in
the 117th Congress from the
2nd Congressional District of
Georgia, Sanford Bishop is the
sole candidate on the Demo
cratic ballot, In November, he
wilL vie against the winner be
tween Vivian L. Childs and Don
Cole, who will appear on the
Republican Primary ballot.
The 15th State Senate seat
will be determined during the
primary, with Ed Harbison and
Teddy Reese appearing on the
Democratic ballot.
Patty Bentley is the sole can
didate on the Democratic bal
lot for State Representative in
the General Assembly from the
139th District. She will also be
unopposed in November.
The District Attorney for the
Chattahoochee Judicial Cir
cuit, which includes Taylor
County, will be determined dur
ing the Democratic primary,
with Mark P, Jones and Julia
Fessenden Slater appearing on

Well-Equipped Rescue/Pumper
Now Housed At Crossroad Fire Station
According to Taylor County Commissioner Robert Peacock, the new Crossroads Fire Sta
tion has taken possession of an extremely well-equipped fire truck Rescue / Pumper. The
truck is a 300 hp diesel Mack with a 1250gpm pump, 950gallon poly foam tank, cascade
system capable of filling two air tanks at a time, Wilbert light tower; hydraulic hose reels,
hose bed set up for 800 feet of 5” and 800 feet of 3* hose, David Clark headsets for driver
and officer, and a 15 kw generator The Taylor County Fire Department is very proud of
the new unit, adding that it is a huge asset for the department and all of Taylor County.
Reynolds Police Charge Three With Marijuana Charges
According to Reynolds Police
Chief Lonnie J. Holder, the
Reynolds Police Department
arrested Derrick Maurice
Moye, a 24 year old male of
Macon, and Lakia Diesha
Callaway, a 23 year old female
of Macon, for Possession of
Marijuana With Intent to Dis
tribute.
On May 31st, Assistant Chief
Smart Web was patrolling GA
Hwy. 96 eastbound, when he
observed a black Dodge
Charger traveling at a high
rate of speed. Web docked the
Charger at 61 mphina45mph
speed zone. Web initiated a
traffic atop in front of Home
town Foods.
During the stop. Assistant
Chief Web detected the odor of
marijuana in the car. The
driver, Moye, consented to a
search of the vehicle. Assistant
Chief' Web, Officer Vernon
Humphrey, and Officer Chris
Gillespie located and retrieved
marijuana, a large sum of U.S.
currency, and baggies used to
package narcotics.
Moye was arrested and trans
ported to the Taylor County
Jail. He also has a prohation
warrant for his arrest and re
mains in the Taylor County
Jail.
Callaway was arrested and
released, due to the delivery
date of her baby on June 1st. A
warrant was issued for
Callaway.
The Reynolds Police Depart
ment will file for a Forfeiture
Seizure on the U.S, currency
and the 2008 Dodge Charger,
due to the amount of marijuana
and currency retrieved.
Also on May 31st, the
Reynolds Police Department
charged Breanna Rochelle Pe
ters, a 28 year old female of
Columbus, with Possession of
Marijuana, Less than an
Ounce,
