Officer Hitt arrested Beverly Jonw.colored,
one day this week for imbibing too freely
the poison that makes men worse than dumb
bea-ts. Ilis honor, the Mayor, fined him $3
and costs. He reported of whom he obtained
the liquor. It was a woman. She too was
brought before the Mayor and required to pay
§35 and costs. She demurred, but when the
calaboose and work gang stared her in the
face, tears rolled down her cheeks and she
1 aid the money. She is the woman who mar¬
ried an Atlanta man, reported in this paper
some weeks ago. She now refuses to live with
him, claiming the marriage was a sham, as
they were intoxicated. The News moved by
her tears,—they wore woman’s tears,—
witholds her name from public gaze, provid¬

A Strange But True Story.
There are two little girls in Tocco.i who are
related on their father’s side to ox Governor
Fenton, of New Y'ork, ex-prerid.-nt Grover
Cleveland, Governor Hill, Mr. Fargo,
Wells, Fargo it Co ; and on their mo Lcr’s
side to ex-president Jefterson Davis, and thus
area connecting link between the North and
South.
They can trace their Holland ancestry back
200 years to a wealthy nobleman named
Wieber. He left a will bequeathing*60,000,000
to be held in trust 200 years, and then to be
divided among his descendants who should
at the expiration of that time be livin', and in
addition,plate and jewels valued at $16,000 C00
to be likewis- divided in the same way.
Ten years wee, by the terms of the will, to
be added to the 200, during which time tlie
heirs were to br hunted up, and if all were
found, the vast sum, the plate and the jewels
were to be equally divided between them;if all
could not be found this great wealth was
g > to the crown of Holland.
It so happened that one of the heirs was a sea
Captain and he could not be found, though
most diliigent and anxious search was made
for him. The ten years flew swiftly by and
brought no tiding3 of the lost Captain, though
lie was the necessary link in the chain that
connected the heirs *o the great treasure.

We were reading some time ago
of a man that only sweated on one
side of his body. Air. Robert Brady
of this county does the same thing.
He has often told us that he never
perspired only on one side while one
side would be perfectly dry f the other
would bc wet with perspiration, but
we forget which side does not sweat.
We have often noticed one side of his
face covered with moisture and the
other dry.

entirely;the obstruction being leraova
