Langston is rapidly complet¬ ing his new dwelling house. Tol says lie and Joe have arranged all their little misunderstanding's. W. Hunnicutt and family, of Tallu* jah, were in town Saturday and Sun- day. The fever patients in town are slow¬ ly regaining their wonte 1 health and strength. Ed. McConnell says he is going to drink sorghum and eat candy for the next 0 months exclusively. J. F. Earls has moved into the Mathesou store room'and already be¬ gins to look like one of the boys. This is the season of the year when the music of the sorghum mill, and Joe’s fiddle are heard in the land. Fodder is about pulled down, and the school teachers have about resum¬ ed their usual avocation of wielding a birch twig. Messrs. W. S. Paris and J. A. Swofford and Dr. W. J. Greene went to Oconee co, S. C. on Monday last to buy a horse. J. W. Godfrey says there is* not a man in the State who could have caught the fellow he was after, if the chap had 3 feet ahead. The road hands of town,Persimmon And Tennessee Valley dists. met on Friday to build a new road across the Blue Ridge mountain through Taylor Gap. Dr. E. P. West and wife were in town on Monday last, returning home 'to Clarksville from a visit to their sis¬ ter, Mrs. W. R« Coffee, in Tennessee Valley. Messrs.JLaFayette Wall and A. R. Cannon, of Tallulah were in town on Saturday last. They look as fat as a fence rail and are wearing smiles all over their physiognomy. W. S. Whitmire is having his store room painted inside and new coun¬ ters and shelving put up preparatory to laying in a bran new stock of goods fresh from N T ew York. Tin* News is pained to learn of the death of Capt. W. C. Price,which oc¬ curred at 5:30 a. m. Oct. 5th. He was one of the oldest and best known cit¬ izens of this county. He was born in 1817 and has lived all his life in this -county. Ho was elected and commis¬ sioned Capt of C. F. Youngs Brigade -of Georgia Volunteers in the late war, and served with bravery arid dis¬ tinction until the close. He was for a number of years Clerk of tlie Superi- or Court of this county, and it is said he was a prudent and efficient officer. To his sorrowing family and friends the News tenders the sincerest sym- paihy. Rabun County Farmers’ Alliance at its meeting Oct. 3d, unanimously passed the following resolutions: “Whereas there is a tendency in railroad circles to monopolise all ex¬ isting lines, and to prevent the con¬ struction of new lines, and that by reason of such monopoly the various railroad corporations are seeking to, and are doing a great injury to all other interests in the State of Geor¬ gia, and Whereas, the Constitution of the State of Georgia ir. article 4, Section 2, paragraph 4, authorizes the Legis¬ lature to enact laws for the preven— tion of such monopoly and combina¬ tion; Therefore be it Resolved 1st. That our Represen¬ tative from this county, and the Sen¬ ator from the 40th Senatorial district, be earnestly requested to lend their aid and assistance towards the passage of any bill tending to enforce said article, section and paragraph of the Constitution, and Resolved, 3d. That the Secretary of this Alliance furnish such Senator and Representative with a copy of these resolutions, under the Seal of the Alliance, and that they be pub iished in the Toccoa News, Atlanta Journal andSouthernAllianceFarmer.
