Joe had better get married, and when his wife wants a new dross she will be apt to keep him warmed until he gets it. J. I. Langston’s new house is rap¬ idly approaching completion; when finished it will be one of the most commodious residences in town. J. F. Earls has had his house gen¬ erally overhauled and painted. It is now one of the handsomest and most convenient residences to bo found anywhere in the whole country. Mr. Dover has finished up the work in a manner to excite the admiration and praise of all who see it. J. M. Wilkerson went to the expo¬ sition lastAveek. Jim had the misfor¬ tune to lose his hat as he wentjdown, he came back with his new hat tied in four different places, and vowing that he wouldn’t ride another bit on the Air Line, till they get so they wilistop~ami pick up a gentleman’s hat when he it. Some of the boys who visited] the exposition went to the opera house while there, and said that they went in a frame of mind that required them to shut one eve, when the) looked at the characters on the stage, to keep from seeing two people where only one ought to bo. If the chest¬ nuts continue to hold out, and she continues to stay away, Tol and his pony w : ll both get fat. Prof. R. A. Hamby reports the school at Clayton in a flourishing condition.
