John Marsen^ill says he thinks he will pet his new crib done, in time to store next season’s crop. It appears ns if the New Hiph School at Clay ton was about at s standstill. Why is this friends, let everybody rally to the front, and strain every nerve to the accomplish¬ ment of so noble a purpose. The Clayton Edition of the News has been productive of some pood for Rabun county. It has been the means of inducinp the Clarksville Adverti¬ ser to recognize the fact that there is a county situated in the N. E. corner of the State called RABUN—for it , has recently, „ . omula.ion ... , in Ot tne Mu-nra IN ews, added arLWl a a Rnbnn Kaoun Donftrtmfinttn IJepartm nt to its columns. We are plad to notice this, for if the Advertiser continues to adopt all improvements that are made by other papers in this progressive age, it will soon step to the front rank and become quite a readable little sheet. Capt.Dulingham , y-v * 11 * , stepping , is around proud as a turkey gobbler, and brag- Ring about his fine crop of corn.Well we can’t blame the Captain, for if all reports , . be true, , ho , certainly . • , ,___ has „ a crop good enough to make any man feel proud. Wm. S. Paris, Esq. has been trying in this county J something over 2 years to make his jack, practicing •• t law. We -nr don’t know how wall ho has succeed- edin that very laudable endeavor, but one thing we do know, and that is ho hassucceded in getting the next best thinp to i. for he came^ into town the other day leading a jenny he had captured from some delinquent debtor. The thing is getting to be entirely J monotomous to suit me.” Tol—“I T tell „ you Jae . what . a we will ... do, we will put our heads together and write apiece to the Franklin Press, and maybe we can get even with’em that way.” JOB—“The very thing! Tol you know I used to be editor of a paper, anl 1 know thatwe can everlastingly lift them out of their boots, and anoth- or thing, Tol,the exertion of our men- tal abilities in that direction, will serve to keep the keen edge of our memory from dwelling too much upon our recent troubles.” The above is a port.on of conversa- tion the News man over heard one night last week, while going by a cer- tain window, between two of Clayton’s Vet known and popular young men. We devoutly hope that they obtained tho much desired relief. Wonder how much money is still m tho State Treasury i We wish to know SO that we can have some when the legislature will adjourn.
