The first snow of the season onSnt-
urday last. It was only a very small
amount but it was the genuine article.
A. J. Kell of Moccasin district was
in town on Saturday last. Jack is a
first rate far me r , goo« Alii neeman,
and a splendid fellow generally.
Prof. It. A. Hamby has closed his
school at this place, and is now mak¬
ing arrangements to attend the North
Georgia Agricultural college.
Clayton presented quite a lively ap¬
pearance on Saturday last. It was a
•called meeting of the county Alliance,
and numbers of the best men of the
bounty wore present.
A. J. York 1ms bought a piece of
land, IPc coi 11 not imagine what
in the world Jack wanted with it
until we learn t 1 that on one corner
there was a large orchard of possum
fruit, and the trees all young and
thrifty, and in full bearing.
J. A. Swofford has accepted a posi¬
tion as traveling salesman for A. M.
Robinson & Co. of Atlanta. He is
now there preparatory to starting on
a trip.
IT, F. Cannon, one of the most ins
fluentiai c: izens of Tallulah, is now
in town, and will a i for some
time. Rol is a rustler and makes
things lively win re he goes.
C. G. Grant, of Tallulah Falls, has
bought another lot in that thriving
town., Gin certainly' believes in the
value of real estate in that busy burg.
All the typhoid patients are about
well except Dotson.
1). T. Duncan sold his fine gray
horse to Ira York ofAnderson co.S.C.
The drumming of the pheasant and
the energetic 'pul’ ‘put*’ wild tur¬
keys, are heard in the land-- at a dis¬
tance.
Messrs. Lafayette Wall and II. I?.
Cannon have purchased a lot in Tal¬
lulah,and contemplate building a three
story business house on the same.
Hon. W. S. Long will let to the
lowest bidder sometime in December,
two bridges, one across. Warwoman
creek, and the other across Tallulah
River, at Burton post office.
Miles Phillips was in town a few
days ago, looking up some business
connected with his lease of the Moore
girls gold mine in Pcrrimmon district.
This is one of the richest of the many
rich mines in this county, and wc hope
that Miles may realize his fondest
hopes in regard to the same.
By request of a number of our sub¬
scribers, wc reproduce the following :

The entertainment of the High

in every particular. Tlie day being
very rainy, the crowd was much
smaller than it would have been had
the weather been fine, only about
eight hundred being present. Tue
entertainment consisted in dcelama-
tions, recitations and dialogues, inter.
spersed with sweet mii3ic. by the
Bethlehem choir. A bountiful sup-
per was given, the only damper to the
occasion being a heavy rain while
supper was being served on a table
over 100 feet long, which was loaded
down with provisions sulfieient to
have satisfied the hunger ot at least
three times as many as were present,.
