A mad dog was killed in Walhalla
on Main street, near Mr J. J. Smith’s,

iting her sister, Mrs. W. II. Davis.
Mrs. Phillips was formerly Miss
Daisy Alexander, and is well remem¬
bered by her many friends here for
her great beauty and the loveliness of
her character.
Messrs. T. S. Davis and ,T. T. Car-
ter, two of the Executive Committee
appointed by the third party meeting
at Clarksville last Friday decline to
serve on the grounds that they are
Democrats. They think that the only
relief that the people can hope to ob-
ain now is through the Democratic
party.
The revival services which have
b *en going on at theMethodist church
fot two weeks closed last night. The
services were largely attended by all
denominations and, while there were
only two accessions to the church
the interest manifested warrants the
hope I hat great good may result from
the meeting.

The second Quarterly meeting of
the M. E. Church convened with the
church at this place lastSaturday,con¬
tinuing to Monday. The meeting
was a harmonious and profitable
one. The pastor’s salary for Toccoa
station was placed at $800. Two
stewards, J. K, Dixon and J. B. Bur-
gess, were added to the officers of
the church. Dr. Mixon the Presiding
Elder was present and delivered two
excellent sermons during the meeting.
We read with pleasure in the
School Edition of the Carmssville
Tribune a very flattering notice of
one of Habersham’s worthy sons; we
refer to Prof. J. S. Ayers who is
scarcely out of his teens, and yet
abreast of the times, and keeping up
with the procession in the education¬
march. Jerry is an exemplary
(man and has made himself
what he is by his own labor and we
hope for him a successful career
in whatever avocation he may cast
his lot.
Judge Jeff Oliver of Rooky Creek
was in the city Wednesday. The
is one of Franklin county’s

for a rainy day. Notwithstanding
the fact that he has a good deal to do
with law and at one time was looked
upon as a shrewd practitioner,be takes
no stock in politics. He thought of

Democratic ranks.
Take notice everybody! On May
18th there will be an excursion train
run on the R. &• D. road from Green¬
ville, S. C. to Tallulah Falls and re-
turn. Passengers will be taken on at
all stations between the points
named. The excursion is to be given
under the auspices of the Order of
Railway Conductors, and it is intend¬
ed to make this trip a great success
in the way of enjoyment to all who
go. There will be at least 15 con-
ductors along and each one will see
personally that the best of order is
preserved’. All who desire Falls to should visit
the far-famed Taullulah

Atlanta and says it is a lie, he never
worked for John Cannon a day m his
life. He was only boarding there for
a few days and when John asked him
to work for him to pay his board he
told John that was tine thing he
wouldn’t do at home, so he left. .
