no doubt. But Toceoa has a mer¬

a J]_ It is said that he will actval-

lie S'ltne conversation in his presenc ).
IT.s distaste for the the kerosene can
a whisky vessel was brought a-

from some d*»rk hollow with a little
of t | ie “ 0 -be-jovful” to dispose of ou
^| 10 s jy^ ln order to pr veat
suspicion it was emptied into the ker-
osene can and sent over to the mer¬

mornings as an eye opener. The ruse
<»f putting it into the can to make be- |
liev° it was oil was a how ling
cess > for the servant in trimming and
filling the lamps tliat evening spoilt
many a sweet song by emptying the
whisky into the lamp instead of oil.
Everything went smooth until the
lamps were lighted for the wealthy -

.soon liseovered that tiie light
wouldn’t be still enough for him to
read; in fact the lamps behaved very
badly. They would splutter and tiz
and pu-pn-pu until the merchant cou¬
ch.ded that the signs were pretty fair
for an explosion and a big fire, and in
order to be ready for the occasion lie
stole to the closet to take a “nerver,”
but never a “nervei” did he get, for
the can was empty. The truth burst
upon him, and reports say that he ex¬
hausted the whole catalogue of cuss
words and ordered a new box to be
used in the future when ue rests up a
little.
The closing exercises of the Toe—

which was the sudden departure of
Prof. Alexander, called home to
the deathbed of his mother; then Miss
E nma Davis was taken sick, which ie t

enough to accommodate a very la i>
audience, the exhibition tva. held on
the beautiful ami spacious lawn sur-
rounding Mr. W. J. Ramsay’s resi-

Very near the entire town was out
to witness the exercises, and although
were not comfortably

the play that they reipaiued til! II

during a shower of rain to witness

The school as managed by Prof. Al-

BE WARS OF SWISTATSC^S.
The largo demand ’.inch for the Atkihh Concave Tooth Dexter Raw has led competitors to mako
inferior Saws they claim “as good as the Dexter." These imitation Saws are made from a
lower grade of steel, inferior workmanship, and without the patent col. ia\e tooth.
Ask your hardware dealer for the “Atkins Dexthb*’ and take no other. If the dealer will
not order it for you, remit amount with order direct to us.
