Ho believes that the proper solu¬

CJovEKXoK Tillman, of South
Carolina, finds it difficult to run
the liquor business just as ho wish¬
es to do. In the place, he
failed to obtain a patent for his
palmetto treo device as a trade
mark. Then the courts have de¬
cided that the dispensary laws can¬
not prevent whiskey’s being bought
in another fdato and shipped to
Kouth Carolina. Tillman’s
bar-room scheme is not by any
means a blooming success.
The way some newspaper meii
shoot off their mouth about im¬
portant questions reminds us of
one of Sam .Tones’ remarks. (Wo
want it understood, though, that
we arc no great, admirer of Rev.
Sam.) Some old-fashioned brother
Avas arguing that ;* preachef should
not prepare his sermons; that
when he opened his month the
Lofil would fill it. “Yes,” said ftim.
“that’s so: the Lord will till it;
lie’ll fill it with air.”

Clarkesville Advertiser savs:
It is with universal regret that
the noWs of tho intention of Mr.
Davis to move from Habersham
county is received. Ho has very
deservedly hold a high placo in
the estimation of our citizens, and
more than once have they oviuced
their confidence in him by electing
him to important offices within
! their gifts. His ability, eminent
qualifications and earnest labors
for the success of the party during
the last campaign, render him
especially deserving of recognition
by the administration. We sin¬
cerely trust that iff hit? hew labors
he will be most pleasantly and
profitably situated.
A great many people are not
so wise its they think themselves
to be. This is not stated as an
original thought, but as it fact
which impresses one tho mote
strongly as one grows older. There
are some poor editors of oiiediorse
papers who think they could prop¬
erly arrange the financial system of
oitr government some morning
before breakfast, fix the tariff be¬
fore dinner and devise all other
needed legislation by supper
time.
Editors HoWkI.l & BALL now
have entire charge of The ToccoA
