to me the most astonishing thing about
it is the briefness ol so much beauty,
for its large, beautiliil, sVreet-scented

and before morning are quite faded.
In the West Indies and parts of

The committee appointed to got up
an entertainment for the benefit of the
CUMt fl „ d that talent ami
willingness to help are plentiful in
Pooeoa; but a grave obstacle presents
itself in the lack of seats for tlie audi-
once. In last week’s News il Was
stated that Messrs. Matlieson, Payne
and Mabiy have over their new store a
hall provided with a stage. This would
be excellent for all sbi!‘- of entertain-
ments if it were supplied with seats.
Now, if these gentlemen will put in
these necessities at once, the entertain-
ment previously suggested will be a
success in every way; otherwise it will
be a failure, for we can neither rent
nor borrow, seats m the town. The
hall alluded to would, if Aired with
seats, add much to the facility for en¬
tertainment here, and the rent from it
would soon pay ftii* chairs. Let us
have them, by ail means.
In Sunday’s Constitution a most pa-
tlietic appeal is made for help to those
who are epidemic suff'ciiilg, from the y’eltow
fever in Brunswick. The
money from our entertainment might
do more good there, as relief has come
to the coast sufferers. However, the
committee Mil decide about that later.
