Arch Deaton Walton conducted the services at St. Mathias Episco¬ pal church on Sunday, and Rev. Clarence Wood was installed “Lay Reader” for this Parish. It is un¬ derstood that he will reside in Toc¬ coa. The Arch Deacon held com¬ munion services on Monday. Messrs. Turner and Garland, of Macon county N. C., moved to Toccoa last week, and called on us while in the search for a residence. We could not point them to a vacant house in Toccoa. This is not un¬ usual. There has been no vacant residences in Toccoa for months,and we might say, truthfully, too, for three or four years. There will be no Christmas trees at any of the churches this year. This is the first time in many years that the Sunday schools of Toccoa have failed to have some kind of Christmas entertainment for the children. Miss Lillian Manley, of Carnes¬ ville, is visiting friends in Toccoa this week. Mrs. T. C. Wright, and Mrs. vSallie Faulkner, with their children, leave Saturday for Lavonia, where they will spend Christmas. The many friends of Mrs. Fan¬ nie Whitmire will gladly welcome her back to town, after an abscence of several months. Miss Maggie Busha was the guest of relatives in Atlanta, dur¬ ing the jubilee. Miss Loula Sutttles will spend the holidays with friends in Rich¬ land, S. C. Miss Grace Johnson, of Royston, was the guest of Miss Buna Swift, a few days last week. Mrs. C. H. Dance and Miss El- oise Matheson have returned from a visit to the Gate City. Mr. Samuel Mcjunkin, of Tuga- loo, S. C is the guest ol his son, Dr. Mcjunkin, and family. Miss Jessie Martin is the guest of relatives and friends in Atlanta. Miss Coralie McAvoy has return¬ ed home after an extended visit to relatives in Wilkes county. Mrs. P. H. Sellars is spending some time in Abberville, S. c., with her husband who is stationed at that place. Miss Coral Capps is expected home Saturday, to spend the holi¬ days. The many friends of Bernard Harris, are grieved to know of his critical illness. Miss Daisy Mulkey and Mr. T. W. Collins were married at the home of the bride’s father, Mr. John Mulkey, Sunday, December S, Rev. G. Davis officiating. The happy couple have the best wishes ot a large circle of friends. Miss Allie Blackmer, who has been attending the Georgia Nor¬ mal and Industrial college, at Mil- ledeville, has returned home. Her many Toccoa friends are happy to learn that she will be here during the remainder of the winter. The Record force will take a week for Christmas this year and will not issue a p-per next week. This is something new for us to fail to get ® out a paper every week, but there will not . u be another G issue until January 6.
