To the flethodist of th i Elbertoa

Dear Brethern : l take this method
of sending to you a word ol cheer and
encouragement. Having almost com¬
pleted my second round of pastoral
charges, for the Conference year, 1
find much cause for gratitude to the
great Head of the Church, and also
much for oommendacion in the pastors
ahd membership.
In every pastoral charge there are
hopeful signs of progress, and is well-
nigh each one marked advancement in
many things.
The mid-year report of the Treasurer
of the Board ef Missions of the Korth
Georgia Conference reveals a very
gratifying fact* This district has paid
this year $1,102,32 for Missions, as
against $427,75 reported at the sama
time last year. This calls for profound
gratitude to God. The increase is due
not £only to faithful and efficient
pastors, than whom none are better,
but also to the loyalty and devotion
of many of the membership, who have
have responed to the pastor’s appeals.
With this vantage ground, from which
to work, this early in the year,we con¬
fidently expect that the payments of
full a-sessments shall be minimun of
our contributions this year 4 in the dis¬
trict. Certain it will be so if evary
one w ill pay the vows which he has
made unto God. That shuch may be
the case let every pastor labor and
every member co-operate.
There is evidence of a quickened
spiritual life on every hand. Many
circles and leagues for daily prayej*
have been and are being formed
throughout the district.
We must win not less than one
thousands souls for Christ this year,
ond strive to reclaim and get establish¬
every weak and fallen back slider.
God is able to do this and much more
if we will only ask it. Let the Church
study the fields before us at home and
abroad. Take good religious literature
and know what God is doing in our
own and other denominations. Let
our faith be strong* In closing, suffer
an exhertation to every member of the
Church that he give mu oh time to the
study of God's Word, to meditition,
prayer. “ Bear ye one another’s bur¬
dens,” and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Your servant, in Christ,

Through a mistake, the questions
used in the content at Miss Ken¬

ted in last week’s paper.
The basis of this “Penny Party
was the United States penny or
one cent.
Each guest upon his or her ar¬

from which were a penny and a
tiny pencihthe card bearing follow¬

Name of a flower? Two Lips.
Name of a fruit? Date.
Part of h hill? Brow.
A marriage term? United.
A mode of voting? Eyes and

A weapon? Arrow.
A mode of correction? Stripes.
An ancient reward? Launwl
wreath.
A gallant? Bow.
A term of protection? Shield.
A messenger? One (?) cent.
An occupation ? Milling.

A portion ot land? Neck.
A beverage'' T. (tea)
A kingly possession? Crown.
What our forefatl ers fought for?
Liberty.
Half an hour was given for
solving t ?e questions at the end of
that time, it was found that Prof.
Thomas had succeeded in answer¬
ing the greatest number of ques¬
tions correctly. He received the
prize, a pen and ink sketch of
a . t Golf Girl.”
The hostess then bade each guest
make a drawing of some kind in
her “Face Album”—each one to
consult his own taste in selecting
the model for his sketch and quiet
amusing were some the drawings,
especially so, an eyeless mule by
Mr. Horn and a pig by Miss Berta

Mrs. Horn’s artistic talent suc¬
