The consumption of coffee in the

The Standard Oil Co. is now

Our importation of rubber has

This accounts, perhaps, for a

The Sparta Ishmaelite suggests
that Booker Washington be nomi¬

In a recent article a prominent
physician says, “It is next to im¬
possible for the physician to get
his patients to carry out any pre-
scribed course ot hygiene or diet to
the smallest extent; he has but one
resort left, namely, the drug treat¬
ment.” When medicines are used
lor chronic constipation, the most
mild and gentle obtainable, such
as Chamberlain’s Stomach & Liver
Tablets,should be employed. Their
use is not followed by constipation
as they leave the bowels in a
natural and healthy condition.

Democratic Platform.
The Democracy of Georgia in
convention assembled congratulate
the people upon the reunion of the
white people of this state in the
Democratic party and pledge them
to such an administration of the
state’s affairs as will afford com¬
plete protection of life, liberty and
property and the pursuit of happi¬
ness to every • person within her
borders. We endorse our state
administration and commend our
chief executive and each of our
state officials for their capable,
faithful and honest administration
of the state’s affairs.
We favor such legislation as will
require persons, both natural and
artificial, to pay their equal share
of taxes upon every species of their
property in strict accordance with
the constitutional provision relative
to taxation ; and an amendment to
the constitution limiting the rate
of taxation to the lowest figure
consistent with the proper main¬
tenance of the state government,
the public institutions, the cause of
education and a -liberal and just
though not extravagant pension
system.
We pledge the people of Geor¬
gia on honest and economical ad¬
ministration of the affairs of state
and an earnest effort on our part
to reduce the rate of taxation to
the lowest figure possible.
The best efforts of the party are
hereby pledged to a revision of our
public school laws so as to make
the common school system more
effective and more in accord with
the necessities of the rural schools
throughout the state.
We favor the enactment of such
laws as will afford equal and exact
justice to labor and capital alike,
and the administration of thosa
laws in such a spirit of fairness as
will protect and foster the interests
which are already in the state, and
encourage the establishment of new
enterprises, thereby affording lar¬
ger and more extended fields of in¬
dustry for our citizens.
We do not believe the cause of
temperance should be made a po¬
litical issue in this state. The best
interests of the people, as well as
the furtherance of that cause, de¬
mand the complete separation of
this question from personal and
party politics. We approve the
wisdom and safety of the non-parti¬
san policy which characterizes our
present legislation upon this sub¬
ject, and commend the same to
the people of the state.
We recommend such national
legislation as will confer upon the
Inter-State Commerce Commission
power to make just and reasonable
railroad rates and charges on inter¬
state shipments.
We cordially commend our
United States Senators and mem¬
bers of the House of Representi-
tives in Congress for their able and
patriotic services, and we especial¬
ly approve their course in opposi¬
tion to trust, in opposition to a

A Solomon like magistrate who
presided over aminor court in New
York city has settled the question
of when Sunday baseball is a vio
lation of the law and when it is
not. According to this authority,
when admission tees are charged
to see the game, the playing of
ball is illegal; but where there is
no money consideration at the
gate, no law is violated and the
game may proceed.
POISONING THE SYSTEM.
It i§ through the bowels that the
body is cleansed of impurities. Con¬
stipation keeps these poisons in the
system, eausing headache, dulness
and melancholia at first, then
nightly eruptions and finally serious
illness unless a remedy is applied.
Dewitt’s Little Early Risers pre¬
vent this trouble by stimulating
the liver and promote easy,healthy
action of the bowels. These little
pills do not act violently but by
strengthening the bowels enable
them to perform their own work.
