Vale to the City Court.
Georgia, Habbersham County,
Notice of intention to apply to
the next General Assembly of Geor¬
gia for the repeal of the following
local act:
An Act to establish a City Court
of Ciarkesville, in Habersham
county, to define its jurisdiction
and power, to provide for the ap¬
pointment of a judge and other
officers thereof, and to define their
power and duties, to provide for
pleading and practice, and motion
for new trials therein, and writs of
error therefrom, and for other pur¬
poses. Acts of 1898, page 299 to
310 inclusive. Edw. Schaefer.
Toccoa, Ga., Oct. 20th 1902.
The above notice, appearing this
week in the Advertiser, means that
the days of the City Court in this
county are numbered. The peti¬
tion has already hundreds of signa¬
tures to it, and there is no doubt
but that the move will go through.
As a matter ot fact the city courts
throughout the state are an unnec¬
essary legal luxury, since the ser¬
vices preformed by them can be as
well attended to by the justice
courts as before the enactment two
years ago of the City courts. It is
true the city courts have always
done a good business, have had
plenty of cases, which fact itself
furnishes an cbjection to them since
as a result of the energy of officials
many cases of minor importance
are introduced and useless waste of
time and money results, where the
various justice courts, more conven¬
iently located always in their re-
pective sections, can handle
the business as well.
This move to abolish city courts
is not: alone confined toHabershem
county. All over the state the
same steps are being taken, the
same conditions prevailing, the
same sentiment existing among the
people.

Colonel Cody is at present at Las
Vegas, N. M., and has written
Colonel Hayes, under whom he
did his first scoutting, telling of
his illness and postponing his
annual hunt for big game in the
Big Horn mountains. In his letters
Colonol Coby says he will probably
be compelled to leave his show
immediately, without waiting to
finish the season.

The annual meeting of the Hab¬

was held at Hazel Creek church
last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The weather was fine and a great
crowd attended. The hospitable
people of that community did
everything to make it pleasant for
the visitors and all who attended
pronounced the convention a suc¬
cess. The singing was ^ood and
greatly enjoyed by the vast throng
of people. There is no gathering
in this county which draws a larger
crowd than these conventions.
