Harriet Ut.rcluM - Si<>w«*, has created a sou’’ •stum —again written lieividf into the iio to.ictv she so nmeh covets. We find from the Atlantic Monthlies, advanced sleets, if her glut*merits are true, thut she has drawn the curtain licretnfoie enshrouding |tie separation ot Lord and Lady Byron, and r eveals it to the shuddering world hi ail oi its hideoiisness. The cause, as detailed to this old gossip by Lady Byron, “was tin* incestous intercourse of her husband with his own sister. w One docs not like to say to a woman syhat he exactly thinks. To say we do not believe the tragic story, is the least we can say of it. It is strange to us that Lady Byron, shun and impart to almost an entire sdangt r a crime that startles humanity, uud cutises the blood to curdle in our veins, alter hug ging it sacredly to her bosom, through a long painful hie. That she should disclose to this idle curosity seeker so fearful a se cret, instead of those win had cherished and loved her in her affliction —a secret that il true could not benefit the dying woman, whose soul was hovering over the übyss of eternity blit could inly injure the living, is seemingly, to us, an idle evil told tale unworthy of belief. All know Lord Byron was are* kless diss solute being—a libertine if von please. Yet, weeaunot, now nor will we believe him, so lost to fdiame and honor as to have prosti tutod his own Histej to hellish lusts. If told her, at all it must have been the ciaz' ravings of a suffeiing woman, without the least knowledge of whal she was saying. If told and true, wiiat good could it do the dead woman to unearth the ashes of her dead husband and cast on them so dark a aloud of infamy. Mrs. Stowes woman’s soul has she one— should have shrunk instinctively from the filthy resurrections of the dead poets crimes, and like a true worn m let it rest forever in her own bosom. No one with any sense could believe the revelation of such a detestable deed neces sary to defend Lady Byron’s character from any attacks made upon it by the mis tress of her husband. Until we are furnished with better evi der.ee we shall always believe this vile his tory the creation of her own fertile brain, In keeping with the slanders hurled at the south by th is same petticoated scribbler through Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
