That Rear. —The juvenile portion of onr
community was thrown into a terrible state
of excitement on Monday last, by the ap
pearance or. our streetv,'of a genuine Vw
bear. Although he had a rope around
his neck and a man at the other end of it,
the most of the spectates* proved by their
actions that they were believers in
saying. “Distance lends enchantment 4 o
the view.” His Beat ship formerly lived
in Okefenokee SWamp, Fiorida, but is now
a resident of 'dr. King’s back yard, where
he wi.l be glad to meet and embrace any
who may honor him with a visit.
The Performance Yesterday.— Tt is with
pleasure that we recommend anything that
gives the satisfaction necessary to merit it
at our hands, consequently we say, and
without fear of contradiction by our really
delighted citijfens, that the Big Show of
Pi of. Reynolds was really splendid and far
surpassed anything that has visited our
city in many a day.
The astounding feats of masters Noberte
and Peicenti, especially the Niagara Leap,
was the best performance of the kind we
have ever witnessed. Miss Louisa Reynolds
well sustained the parts in which ( L« was
cast. Miss Minnie Wells the charming
young comrnediene, who seemed oe the
favorite of everybody in town as well as our
self, can’t be beat. Taking the performance
as a whole it was, to say the least of it,
first-class and Worth double the price of ad--
mission.
Mr. Reynolds is a Georgian h}' birth and
is just returnning to the home, of early
days, that alone should secure to him tin
liberal patronage or our citizens We hope
that the Prof, will, at no distant day, pay
otir city another visit; and we will say to
the management, that if t hey want to really
please our citizens and at the same time
receive a genuine welcome at their hands,
don’t forget to bring “Sweet M’r.nie,” the
life of the show, along with them.
Weave under many obligations to Prof.
Reynolds and bis polite agent Mi. Terry,
for courtesies extended the press.
