The Tableaux— We had the pleasure of
attending tho Tableaux and Dramatic per
orniance, givbri last night, for the benefit
of Stonewall Fire Engitle Company. There
was a pretty good crowd out, thoiigh not
near as many as we expected to see, con*
sidering the fact, that the proceeds
to be devoted to so noble a purpose as
sustaining the gallant Fireman of oiir city.
Wb think, howevOfj that tiife comparative
ly sthall attendance was owing to the in-:
element weather, and not to a lack of
patronising spirit (in the part of our citi
zens. We dan not, for want of space, go
into particulars; but suffice to say. that the
performance, from beginning to end, was
really splended, and is but one more evi
dence of the spirit and good taste of the
.voting ladies and gentlemen of the Oak
City.
Danßerous Toy.—We have noticed sev
eral boys on the street s with nitro-glyce
line torpedoes, and theyjare a very danger
ous toy; We advise hll parent's id guard
their children against the iige of them. One
accident lias alf Cady occurred in this city 7,
and we hear of others elsewhere. We
oopy the following fiotii the Charleston
Courier t - : ;
The last ihvernioh sent out tb amuse our
children at the risk of life and lifnl» r is the

when thrown against the wall br pavement,
the boys take infinite delight. Experience
has proved them to he eminently danger*
<»us, and we caution all against having
anything to do with them. They are very
explosive) and tlie force exerted is most
powerful) lacerating tlie flesh wheii coming
in contact withiift s and tin* very thing to

already occurred ih our city from them,
and immediate ftlefls should be "taken to
prevent their use and sale; if possible.

The above don’t apply to the Gain bridge
