When flown with flags on separate flagpoles, the flag of the United States is always placed in the position of honor on its own right. The other flags may be smaller but none may be larger. No other flag ever should be placed above it. When flown with the national banner of other countries, each flag must be displayed from a separate pole of the same height. The Flag in Mourning To place the flag at half-staff, hoist it to the peak for an instant and lower it to a position half way between the top and bottom of the pole. The flag is to be raised again to the peak for a moment before it is lowered. On Memorial Day the flag is displayed at half-staff until noon and at full staff from noon to sunset. The flag is to be flown at half- staff in mourning for designated principal government leaders and upon presidential or gubernatorial order. The Twin Oaks Elementary School student initiated project was a hit. Students set a goal of ten boxes of food and 200 bears to give to the victims of the tragedies in the United States. Students were surprised and felt very proud of Lee County when they collected 246 bears and 18 boxes of food and clothes. Building Report Issued The building reports for Lees burg and Lee County for the month of September have been released. Lor Lee County, 13 permits for single family dwellings were is sued with an estimated costs of $957,915. Permit costs were $5586. Three permits for mobile homes were issued. Permit costs were $384. Three other nonresi- dential permits were issued with permit costs of $607. Nine per mits for structures other than buildings were issued with per mit costs of $1377. Six permits for Residential ad ditions and alterations were is sued with permit cost of $334. One permit for addition non-resi- dential was issued with a permit cost of $150. Twenty-one electri cal permits were issued with per mit costs of $1135. Eleven plumbing permits were issued with permit costs of $934. Twenty-seven permits for heating and air were issued with permit costs of $1677. Leesburg issued 2 single fam ily dwelling permits with an esti mated costs of $68,275. Permits costs were $616. One permit for residential additions and alter ations was issued with a permit cost of $35. One electrical permit was issued with a permit cost of $60. These accidents resulted in two injuries and no deaths. In the area of enforcement by Post 40, Sergeant Lirst Class E. L. Williams said his officers had made 95 arrests and issued 107 warnings during the month. Various courts in Lee County disposed of 63 pending traffic cases during the month with the following: 23 guilty pleas, 15 bond forfeitures, and 25 nolo con- tendre pleas. Sergeant Williams explained that cases and arrests would seldom be the same num ber for each month because some cases are carried over into the next month to coincide with court dates. He also pointed out that fines and forfeitures amounted to $ 11,299.00 for the month of Sep tember 2001 which were paid to the courts of Lee County.
