Page 8B - The Lee County Ledger, Thursday, October 25, 2001 Obituaries LUCIA MORRISON Mrs. Lucia Frances Stephens Morrison, 82, of Leesburg, Georgia, died October 23, 2001 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Kimbrell-Stern. Dr. Russell Elkins will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. A native of Marshallville, Georgia, Mrs. Morrison has lived in Leesburg, Georgia for 30 years, where she was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church, delivered meals on wheels and was retired civil service from the Albany Marine Corp Logistics Base. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Bob and Rebecca M. Smith of Leesburg, Georgia, one sister, Ann Brown of Albany, Georgia, one half sister. Marcia Stewart of Leesburg. Georgia, sister-in- law, Barbara Morrison of Clayton, Georgia, brother-in-law, Edwin Morrison of Orlando, Florida and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern and will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. (Bob) Smith, 131 Laurelbrook Drive, Leesburg. SSgt. GERALD D. SERMONS SSgt. Gerald Durwood Sermons, USMC (Ret.) 78 of Lee County, died Friday. October 19, 2001 at Phoebe putney Memorial Hospital. The funeral service for Mr. Sermons was held Monday at the First Assembly of God Church in Albany with interment at Leesburg Cemetery. Anative of Glenmora, Louisiana, Mr. Sermons had lived in Lee County since 1967. He was a member and trustee at First Assembly of God Church and was retired from the US Marine Corp with twenty years of service during World War II and the Korean Conflict where he received the Purple Heart. He was also retired from the US Marine Corp Logistic Supply Center. He was a hunters safety course instructor and a member of the Albany Sportsman Club. Survivors include his wife, Wyoma “Billy” Sermons of Lee County, daughters, Dorothy Ann Tully and her husband William of Laurinburg, North Carolina, Wanda Lee Johnson of Immokalee, Florida and Joan Marie McConnell of Albany; a son, Gerald David Sermons and his wife Joan of Dawson, ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Moncrief, her husband Neil and their children, Will and Carlson, have moved back to Leesburg recently after having lived in LaGrange. Georgia for the past three years.
