Boy Scout Troop #210 meets each Monday at 7 p.m. at the Leesburg United Methodist Church Learning Center. The Lee County Historical So ciety meets each second Thursday at 7 p.m. The American Legion meets each first Monday at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Building. The Masonic Lodge meets each second and fourth Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Lodge Building. The Youth of the Leesburg United Church will have a Youth Prayer Breakfast each Thursday at 7:15 a.m. There will be a Women’s Bible Study at the First Baptist Church each Friday from 10 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. All ladies are welcome. The Men of the Leesburg United Methodist Church will be meet ing at Krystal’s in Leesburg at 8 a.m. each Tuesday for a Prayer Breakfast. There will be a Youth Yard Sale, Saturday, November 3 at Ace Hardware. The Crossroads Sunday School Class of the Leesburg United Methodist Church will have a Chili Lunch Sunday, November 4. Donations go to a Special Project in the church to minister to fami lies in the church body. Say, did you remember to turn your time pieces back last Satur day night? Hope you did. I believe the Chicken Pie Festi val in Smithville last Saturday was a great success. However, the cold weather affected some of those attending. Halloween was Wednesday, Oc tober 31, Hope all kids had a safe and fun one. Don’t forget the Homecoming Parade this Thursday, today. Make plans to attend. Long The residents of Lee County Health Care received a really big horse treat on October 25. The Albany Mounted Patrol came out to visit and strutted their stuff for the staff and residents. Among the members were Corporal Hawkins riding Officer Zena; Corporal Lavoie riding Officer Chief; and Corporal Butler riding Officer Amber. The residents enjoyed petting the beautiful horses and feeding them peppermint candies, even though the candy lodged in their teeth. Corporal Hawkins is the train ing officer for the horses. He stated that it takes about five years for a horse to be fully trained be fore coming onto the force. The extent of the training consists of firing guns behind the horse's back, shooting fireworks, and other experiences. Corporal Hawkins stated that the horses have to be trained to the fullest to three are wonderful and gentle. TOES Teacher Feature Lee Geriner teaches fourth grade E.I.P. at Twin Oaks El ementary School. She has six years of teaching experience and this is first year of teaching in Lee County. Mrs. Geriner has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Middle Tennes see State and a Masters of Edu cation in Reading Education. Her husband is Stuart Geriner. Lee Geriner is a native of Macon, Georgia. Her hobbies are fishing, reading and traveling. The horses are donated by private individuals and are given back to the individuals after retirement. If the individual chooses not to take the horse back then the officers can purchase the horse for a small amount. Corporal Butler is the training officer for the people. He stated that the training is an eight-week horsemanship camp. There the people learn how to mount up, ride and balance, and how to care for the horse.
