Wisconsin, Mr. Zoellick was a retired Chief Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force with 22 years of service. He was once stationed in Albany at Turner Field. Later in life, Mr. Zoellick retired from Tallahassee Camera Center and was living in Panama City, FL. Survivors include his wife Dee Zoellick of Albany. 3 sons: Mike Zoellick and his wife Ann of Lee County, Tim Zoellick and his wife Pam of Lee County, Jody Zoellick of Albany; daughter, Patti Z. Ashcraft and husband James of Lee County, 3 sisters, Betty Rubbah and husband Ray of Wisconsin. Mary Ann Cahoon and husband Elwood of Wisconsin. Bonnie Horn of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Shannon, Shane, David, Eric, Erin, Tara, Tori, and Mathew; and great granddaughter, Kaitlyn. WILMA COWAN PITTS Wilma Cowan Pitts, 88, of Albany, died November 14, 2001 at Phoebe Putney Memo rial Hospital. The funeral service was held Saturday at Kimbrell-Stern with interment at Riverside Cem etery. Dr. James M. Ramsey will officiate. A native of Thomas County, Mrs. Pitts had lived in Albany since 1938. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Albany, the Adult I Sunday School Class and the WMU. She was a member of the Crape Myrtle Chapter #163 OES and a former member of# 450. Mrs. Pitts was retired from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where she worked in the Credit Union, Admitting and Data Processing. She also worked with her first husband, Charles Hollis Cowan at Southern Printing prior to his death in 1971. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Cowan Rumph of Albany; one brother Claude Reynolds and his wife Martha of Jackson ville, FL; two grandsons, Thomas Gardner Rumph and his wife Stephanie, and Spencer Charles Rumph; three stepsons, Ray Pitts and his wife Mary of Leesburg, Rodney Pitts and his wife Walda of Lake Blackshear and Richard Pitts and his wife Carolyn of Albany; one daughter-in-law, Jo Pitts of Albany; 11 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; six nieces and two nephews. Scholars Announced For Second Six Weeks The Lee County Middle School announces its Superintendent's Scholars (95- 100) for the second six weeks. Seventh graders are Caroline Brown, Laura Coleman, Marianne Grebel, Colby Whitehead, and Hannah Williford. Eighth grade students are Will Hacked. Melissa Ranew, and Nathan Sorensen. LCHS Students Participate In Nationwide Construction Telecast For the third year in a row, Lee County High School students in terested in careers in the construc tion field got an opportunity to participate, along with thousands of other high school students across the county, in a construc tion telecast. The telecast was aired at Albany Technical Col lege. More than 100 students had an opportunity to see crafts people at work and hear their rea sons for choosing a career in the construction industry. Before the telecast the students toured the campus and got to see the construction areas and learn more about the programs offered at the technical college. After the program there was a question and answer session led by local em ployees who talked about em ployment opportunities and ap prenticeships. The students received valuable information on a growing indus try, which offers a good future. Many students said that the ex perience gave them a better un derstanding of how they can use the skills that they are learning in their construction classes to earn a very good living. LEE COUNTY INVITATION TO BID CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW LEESBURG FIRE/EMS STATION AND THE NEW REDBONE FIRE/EMS STATION The Lee County Board of Commissioners is accepting sealed writ ten bids from professional and qualified contractors to construct two new 8,850 square foot pre-engineered metal buildings with masonry fronts in accordance with the construction plans and specifications prepared by Pollard & Company. Construction plans and specifications for both buildings are avail able after Monday, November 5, 2001 at the offices of Pollard & Company located at 1900 Dawson Road in Albany (229-434-0882) Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a deposit of $75.00 per set. Payment must be made by check, no cash ac cepted. Make checks payable to Pollard & Company. The deposit is fully refundable to each bonafide bidder if the documents are returned to Pollard & Company in good and reusable condition within ten days of owner's announcement of the successful bidder. In addition, the construction plans and specifications for this project are also available in the Dodge Room located at 1216 Dawson Road in Albany (436-2458). If you choose to submit a written bid on this project, your sealed bid must be marked, "Sealed Bid - Leesburg and Redbone Fire/EMS Stations" and delivered to the Lee County Clerk's Office at 104 Leslie Highway, Leesburg, Georgia 31763 no later than 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2001. All bids will be opened during a public bid opening at 11 :05 a.m. on Thursday, November 29.2001 in the County Clerk's Office. You are invited to attend this bid opening. No bids shall be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after the bid opening. Each bidder must include in their sealed bid a bid security of 5% of the base bid amount payable to the Lee County Board of Com missioners from a company authorized to do business in the state of Georgia. In addition, the successful bidder must submit a 100% performance bond and 100% payment bond. The successful bidder will have until June 30, 2002 to complete this project or face $100 per calendar day in liquidated damages. The terms and time of payment will be monthly. The Lee County Board of Commissioners reserves the right to ac cept or reject any or all bids received and/or disregard informali ties in the bids received. The Lee County Board of Commissioners will consider awarding the project to the lowest responsive bidder during the Board's commis sion meeting of Monday, December 3, 2001 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Both stations shall be treated as one project.
