LeeFOCUS Update
LeeFamilies and Organizations for Community Understanding and Solutions
is working to bring community members together to plan and strategize for the
Lee County community. Current collaborative activities include deciding on FO
CUS Funds (decisions will be announced in coming weeks), looking at ways to
evaluate the community by identifying key statistical indicators, and strength
ening the ability of community members to share information and work together
for common goals.
Community members have recently shared interest in several projects. There
is some discussion around developing a program that will help parents to pre
pare their children to be successful students; the youth team would like to pro
mote healthy life choices among all community members; the Education Team
is working to provide a tool for use in ongoing community assessments as well
as supporting education efforts in Lee County.
The LeeFOCUS collaborative meets every 2nd Tuesday at 11:30, at the Lee
County Health Department. The FOCUS Education Team meets each 4th Mon
day at the Leesburg First Baptist Church (except in December and July). Other
team meetings take place on an as needed basis. All interested community mem
bers are encouraged to participate in any LeeFOCUS activities. Call JK Barentte
