Chief Causey, who was ap pointed to his position on Sep tember 17, 2001 will also be re quired to receive 20 hours of management/executive level training each year. The curriculum is designed to give newly appointed law en forcement administrators training on police management as well as inform them of laws and policies affecting their departments. Top ics covered in the course included Liability Issues, Manpower Allo cation, Budget Administration, The Office of the Chief and Com munity Service, Media Relations, Departmental Organization, Em ployee Selection Process and Promotional Systems, Update of the Georgia Crime Information Center, and Employee Perfor mance Evaluation, Counseling and Discipline, along with other timely topics. “It is our goal to offer training that provides professional execu tive/management development for newly appointed Chiefs and Heads of Law Enforcement Agencies," said GACP President Chief Walt Causey Chief C. Frank Simons, Valdosta Police Department, “and to give these newly appointed adminis trators the opportunity to network with each other and the highly qualfied and experienced pro gram instructors who are experts in their fields." Chief Causey was among 42 other law enforcement adminis trators attending the course.
