Seminole Ramlins
by Jack Wingate
What a great time it is in
America today, we are united
moreso than anytime sense Pearl
Harbor. Most every truck, car,
semi & home has the flag dis
played somewhere. This would be
a good time for Judges & Teach
ers to put the Ten Commandments
in the court rooms & school
rooms. Then demand that prayer
be brought back to the school
rooms.
What a great Thanksgiving
week this has been, the food at
Wingate's was plentyful & filling.
I made a pig of myself, then went
to Swine Time in Climax, Geor
gia where the pig is king. A big
crowd of folks enjoyed that day
just as I did. I did eat me a bait of
chitlins. They were realy good &
plenty of them.
On top of that we received a 2
inch slow rain on Friday, then the
fish started biting like mad. We
have had a pile of perch caught
on minnows & jigs.
Dave Matlin took 60 on jigs
fishen with his son. Richard Noles
took a limit 2 days this weekend
on minnows, then Mrs. Etta White
caught a limit on cane poles. She
is a very spry 88 year old & also
took in the Swine Time Day in
Climax. She was everywhere.
Mr. Trogdon again tore up The
Big Bass. He had a limit of bass
one at 8 lbs. Then Bill Allen of
Albany showed up with one at 9
lbs. on Saturday and went back on
Sunday morning & had a 10 lb.
Hybred. Then on Sunday morn
ing John Dunlap of Atlanta came
in with a 12.4 oz. Bass, if that aint
good fishen, grits.
All of us around the landing
seems to point to the same thing,
the weather and the front that
stalled out on us Sunday just
passed.
The ducks are plentyful & so is
the coots. We must have a billion
coots on the big waters of Semi
nole.
The LYSA (#1) U-10 Girls
Team finished the fall season
with the championship title.
The team went into the tourna
ment with a 4-2 standing, and
ranked second in the league.
The single elimination tourna
ment was held on November
10, 2001, with teams paired
according to their end of the
season ranking. The LYSA
team played Deerfield Red and
St. Teresa Crusaders to advance
to the final round. The final
round was between LYSA and
the YMCA Freedom Team.
The final game was evenly
matched throughout the game.
Both teams! defensive held off
advances until the 3rd quarter.
Forward, Rachel Hatch, made
the only score in the 3rd
quarter. The 4th quarter was
marked with increasing
advances from Freedomfs
midfield and forward players.
The LYSA team placed five
players in a two- layer forma
tion to protect the 1-0 score in
the final minutes.
The outstanding season for
the LYSA U-10 team is
attributed to the players’ team
spirit. The team was evenly
composed of new players and
experienced players. The
coaches and parents of the
LYSA U-10 team would like to
extend their heartfelt pride and
support to the girls!
