Volume XXIV - Number 19 Leesburg, Georgia -- December 20,2001 Fifty Cents Brenda Murrell, Warden at Lee State Prison, and the Lee State Prison Vocational Department presented Christmas items to Lee County Department of Family and Children Services. Items presented to DFACS included refurbished bikes, wooden rockers, chairs, and boxes. Anyone wishing to donate bikes to be refurbished should call Brenda Murrell at Lee State Prison. Ordinance Violators Sentenced In Lee Magistrate Court Lee County Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Maryland Fried Chicken located at 1531 U.S. 19 South. Scott Renfoe is the new owner of this restaurant. Maryland Fried Chicken has been in operation at this location for six years. The 1800 square foot business has eight employees. Hours of operation are from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Mr. Renfoe and his staff offer delivery service on orders of $10.00 or more. Leesburg Police File Weekly Report Leesburg Police Chief Charles Moore reports that officers worked several cases during the past week including cases for public intoxication, weapons violation, vandalism, larceny, and burglary. Peggi Pauline Patterson, 24, of 118 Society Street, was charged with pedestrian under the influence, carrying a pistol without a license and carrying a concealed weapon on December 15 by Officer David Bullington. Patterson had been told not to leave her residence because of her intoxication earlier on a previous complaint. Bullington made contact with Patterson in the 100 block of Society Street walking her dogs. She was very unsteady on her feet and her speech was slurred. She was also combative. She was placed under arrest for public drunk. While checking offender for weapons for officer safety and transportation, Officer Bullington found a Smith and Wesson handgun underneath her coat. She did not have a permit to carry a gun. She was transported to the Lee County jail and booked on the above charges. The pistol was placed into evidence to be held for court. A Society Street complainant reported a case of criminal trespass on December 14 to See Police, Page 7A Judge Jim Thurman sentenced ordinance violators in Lee County Magistrate Court December 4. 2001. Marcus Benning, charged with two counts of deposit account fraud, was sentenced to 12 months jail with payment of $55.01 restitution on the first count and 12 months jail with payment of $85.00 restitution on the second count. Jeffrey Demond Tucker, charged with shoplifting, was sentenced to 12 months jail all but four days to be served on supervised probation with a payment of $500.00 fine and $50.00 attorney restitution and special conditions. Roby Sue Jones, charged with disorderly while intoxicated, received credit for time served with payment of $50.00 attorney restitution. Travis Jonathan Mitchell, charged with possession - consumption of alcohol by minor, was sentenced to six months jail which can be served on supervised probation with payment of a fine of $265.00 and 40 hours community service. Mitchell was also charged with theft by shoplift ing. On that charge, he was sentenced to 12 months jail which can be served on super vised probation with payment of a fine of $500.00 with special conditions. Consecutive to Count One. James Lee Harper, charged with possession - consumption of alcohol by minor, had his case continued to the February term of court. Linita Harris, charged with shoplifting, was sentenced to 12 months jail with credit for one day served. Remaining jail time can be served on supervised probation with payment of a $500.00 fine with special conditions. Wayne Taylor, charged with shoplifting, was sentenced to 12 months jail all but three days to be served on supervised proba tion with a fine of $500.00 and restitution of $50.00 with special conditions. Taylor was also charged with giving false information to an officer. On that charge, he was sentenced to 12 months in jail all but three days to be served on supervised probation with a $500.00 fine consecutive to count one. John Cody Knowles, charged with criminal trespass, was sentenced to 12 months jail suspended to be served on supervised probation and a $400.00 fine with special conditions. Pamela S. Thompson, charged with disorderly conduct, was sentenced to 60 days jail suspended for 12 months for payment of $330.00 fine and special conditions. Roger D. Thompson, charged with disorderly conduct, was found not guilty. Billy Brian Vinson, charged with disorderly conduct, was sentenced to 60 days jail suspended for six months and payment of a $250.00 fine. Troy Clark Williams, charged with criminal trespass and possession of marijuana less than an ounce, had the cases continued. Thomas L. Bryant, charged with criminal trespass and possession of marijuana less than an ounce, had the cases continued. Faithe Dannielle Mason, charged with criminal trespass and possession of marijuana less than an ounce, had the cases continued. Morris Rambo, charged with criminal trespass and possession of marijuana less than an ounce, had the cases continued. Dreama Lynn Tholen. charged with disorderly conduct, had the case dismissed. Dianne Lawson, charged with theft by shoplifting, was sentenced to 12 months jail all but one day may be served on supervised probation with payment of a fine of $500.00 and $50.00 restitution and special conditions. Lawson was also charged with possession of marijuana less than an ounce and was sentenced to 12 months in jail and all can be served on supervised probation with a payment of $635.00 fine and special conditions. Carol Ann Griffin, charged with disorderly conduct, was sentenced to 60 days jail to be served on supervised probation with 40 hours community service. Griffin was also charged with criminal trespass and for that charge was sen tenced to 12 months jail to be served on supervised probation with 120 hours of community service consecutive to count one. A1 Bryant, charged with livestock in residential zoning without permit, was sentenced to ten days jail, suspended for three months for payment of $200.00 fine with special conditions. Derek Knight Justice, charged with shoplifting, was sentenced to three months jail all but 20 days can be served on proba tion. Chad Ryan Fritts, charged with possession of marijuana, was sentenced to 12 months jail to be served on supervised probation with a fine of $500.00. Fritts was also charged with possession of alcohol and on that charge was sentenced to 12 months jail which may be served on supervised probation with a fine of $500.00 consecu tive to count one with special conditions. Glen Cook, charged with animal at large, was sentenced to 60 days jail which may be served on supervised 12 months probation with payment of a fine of $200.00 and special conditions. Scott Moss, charged with disorderly conduct, was sentenced to 60 days jail all of which can be served on super vised probation except 48 hours suspended for 12 months with a fine of $550.00 and special conditions. Terry Lee Futch, charged with disorderly conduct, was sentenced to ten days jail. Gene Eric Carter Jr., charged with disorderly conduct, had the case continued for trial. Scott Powell Moss, charged with disorderly conduct, had the case continued for trial. Travis Braziella Sheffield, charged with theft by shoplift ing, was sentenced to 12 months jail all of which but 12 days can be served on supervised probation and a fine of $500.00 with special conditions. Alvin Williams, charged with theft by shoplifting, was sentenced to 12 months jail which was suspended for 12 months with special conditions and a fine of $250.00. Matthew Jones, charged with disorderly conduct, had the case nolle prosequi. Kajauna Washington, charged with disorderly conduct, had the case continued to the February court term. Robert Hartley Jr.. charged with criminal trespass, had a good behavior bond issued. Jon Polk, charged with land development ordinance viola tion, had the case nolle posequi. Terrance Parker, charged with theft by shoplifting, was sentenced to 12 months jail all of which can be served on supervised probation with 120 hours community service and special conditions. Wallace Eric Strickland, charged with disorderly conduct, was sentenced to 60 days jail all of which can be served on probation with 80 hours community service with special conditions. Brandon Rhae Smith, charged with disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana less than ounce, had the cases continued for the next term of court. Teresa Napolitano, charged with disorderly conduct, was sentenced to 60 days jail which was suspended for 12 months for payment of $200.00 fine with special conditions. Larry William Melton, charged with disorderly conduct, was sentenced to 60 days jail which was suspended for 12 months for payment of $330.00 fine with special conditions. On December 11, 2001, Judge Thurman issued sentences for deposit account fraud. Diana C. Bullington. charged with deposit account fraud, posted a cash bond of $231.23. Vicki L. Delaney, charged with deposit account fraud, posted a cash bond of $221.68. Patricia D. Harrell, charged with deposit account fraud, posted a cash bond of $251.29. Daphine C.
