Head Coach Coni Grebel re
flected on the meet with some
surprise. "We actually had all the
odds against us: we started our
practice season a little late, we
had several sick swimmers, and
we had a very busy week the
week before and a long commute
for the competition," said Grebel.
"But they really surprised me by
pulling in the points when it mat
tered most. We do, however, have
a lot of mistakes to fix. Endurance
for anything beyond a sprint is not
what it should be. Practices in
January will need to address that
factor. And starts and finishes
both need some work. But the
strokes themselves are looking
pretty good in the water and will
become more time efficient as the
season advances."
This year's boys' team holds 3
juniors, 4 sophomores, and a
freshman, so Grebel and the boys
all hope that this years' experience
will be a foundation to build on
for the following year. On the
girls' team, M. Crawford,
McDonald. Entz, Grebel, Mehta,
and Bourgouis are all seniors. The
remainder of the girls' team con
sists of 5 juniors, 5 sophomores,
and 4 freshmen.
High school swim season will
last through January and Febru
ary, culminating with State Finals
in Atlanta in late February.
