Katie James is an eight year old third grader. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie James. Alex Duke is a ten year old fifth grader. She is the daughter of Paul and Jennifer Goode. Lesta McClung is an eleven year old sixth grader. Lesta’s parents are Jim and Lorraine McClung. LeeFOCUS Community Resources Series Stepping Stones Child Care and Resource Referral By J.K. Barnett Soraya Kimbrel and Karen Fenton spoke with LeeFOCUS this month about child care refer ral resources offered through Stepping Stones CCR&R. Based in Albany, this state agency serves 14 counties in Southwest Geor gia. Stepping Stones CCR&R is a community service of The Georgia Child Care Council and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospi tal. The goals of Stepping Stones CCR&R involve extending ser vices to parents who need child care and those providing child care in their service region. With a simple phone call, parents can access information about child care providers as well as informa tion on selecting appropriate child care for their children. Individuals interested in becom ing providers can benefit from the many resources offered through Stepping Stones CCR&R. Assis tance with starting a child care, training, and help with obtaining and maintaining licensure are among the services offered. Step ping Stones CCR&R also offers child care providers the opportu nity to participate in their lend ing library. Toys and equipment can be delivered to child care pro viders.
