The Griffin's property is located on Middle Road north of the intersection of Philema Road. Griffin's property is 1.6 miles from the well at Buckston Trace Subdivision on Philema Road. Since the size of the lots are dependent on water service, it is not practical to proceed with the design until the question relative to water is answered. Mr. Griffin and Mr. Reeves wanted to know if the utilities could provide water service to the proposed subdivision. They also wanted to know if the utilities authority could not provide water, if Mr. Griffin could install and operate a private water system. During the discussion between Mr. Griffin, Mr. Dent and the utilities authority board mem bers, it was pointed out that running water from the Buckston Trace well would cost approximately $400,000. State regulations requires lot sizes to be at least one and a half acres if a water system is not pro vided and individual wells are used. Chris Boswell said that developers can put in a water system and then give it to the utilities authority. Mr. Reeves indicated that adding the cost of a water system to the lots would make it cost prohibitive. Chairman Billy Mathis pointed that in the past different arrangement have been made with different developers and all kinds of problems have oc curred. Mathis said a policy needs to be in place as to who will pay for what. Mathis went on to say that the policy needs to fair to the taxpayers as well as to the developers. Chris Boswell will meet with Mr. Dent and Mr. Griffin and come up with options that can be used. The utilities authority will meet January 17.
