Have Choice
Of Two
Wildlife
Tags
Georgians now have a choice of
two wildlife tags. Both tags have
a one-time fee of $15.00. The two
wildlife tags have one goal - To
Support Wildlife in Georgia. Both
tags will be on sale through 2003,
when two new wildlife tags will
be introduced along with the new
state of Georgia tag.
The new tag money will fund
projects to address declining bob-
white quail populations by estab
lishing quality habitat for quail
and wildlife by working with pri
vate landowners to establish field
border, hedgerows and other criti
cal habitat for nesting, feeding
and cover, protecting water qual
ity and reducing soil erosion, pro
viding technical assistance to
landowners, monitoring quail and
songbird populations and encour
aging outdoor recreation and edu
cation.
The original wildlife tag funds
projects to benefit non-game and
endangered wildlife and plants
including purchasing critical
habitats such as endangered spe
cies habitat, environmentally sen
sitive wetlands, aquatic ecosys
tems and longleaf pine/wiregrass
habitat, providing education and
outreach materials, funding con
servation projects to monitor non
game and endangered species,
establishing public recreation op
portunities, supporting research,
survey and monitoring projects
statewide for non-game and en
dangered wildlife.
