Good news for the Catfish-
ermen, a new world’s record
Blue Cat was caught at Alton,
Ill. That beat the Ill. state re
cord by 39 lbs. and the world’s
record by 2 1/2 lbs. This
brings to mind that the world’s
record White
Amur
Carp
was
caught
in the
Flint River 3
or 4 years ago and it
still holds today.
The Bass fishin industrie
past a mile stone this week, it
was Ray Scott’s 72 birthday.
I tole him he could get his
Social Security started. He
grinned and sed, never hap
pen.
Another point in fishen
history, Mr. George Perry,
holder of the world’s record
Bass at 22.4 lbs. is the only
man ever to win 2 records for
Large Bass in the same year.
He also weighed in a 13.4 lbs.
Bass the same year he caught
the world’s record.
All week the water has been
moving at a very fast clip.
Some times too fast for the
leads to sink. The Bream bit
for most folks this week in
shallow water. Friday morn
ing a boat landed 65 nice hand
size Bream on crickets
in 45 minutes.

had jist enough time to click

Fast fishen.
The annual Labor Day
Tournement will take place
this coming Sunday out of
the Boat Bason. We predict
a good turn out and a good
catch.
Most of us folks hear in the
3 Rivers are thank full the big
storm missed us and pray for
those it hit.
Tornadoes Don’t
Threaten the
Lee Co. Trojans
By Lauren Swain, Andy
Unger

At a time when much of the
talk around Lee County has
centered on Hurricane Katrina
and the possible tornadoes
that traveled with her, the
Lee County Trojans showed
no fear when the
cluster of Mon
roe Tornadoes
threatened
Trojan Field
last Friday
night.
Eddie Bell
returned a kick
89 yards for a touchdown in
the opening drive, his second
such first-of-the-game play of
this season. While this started
the game off right for the Tro
jans, their rushing attack all
night was dominant, rushing
for over 250 yards, including
2 rushing touchdowns each
by Joey Harris and D’Vontrey
Richardson.
Richardson also led the
Trojans’ passing attack,
completing 7 of 19 passes for
71 yards and a touchdown.
Josh Albert caught 3 passes
totaling 43 yards, including a
21 yard touchdown pass from
Richardson.
Lee County’s defense was
not to be outdone, allow
ing only 365 total yards in
penetration all night. Jerome
Waters intercepted a pass,
setting up Lee County for
their second touchdown. Dur
ing the second quarter Ryan
Tatum intercepted another
pass, leading the way for the
third Trojan touchdown of the
night.
During the first half of the
third quarter, Waters recov
ered a fumbled punt that set
up the Trojans most impres
sive touchdown - one in
which Richardson fumbled
completed a 29 yard run into
the end zone.
Even with Lee County’s
impressive win over Monroe,
David Johnson, head coach
for the Trojans, saw that the
Trojans still have elements of
their game that need improve
ment. Johnson stressed the
importance for the team to re
main focused and work hard,
because Lee County
“can’t afford a letdown.’’
With a season record
of 2-0, the Trojans will
try to maintain this win
ning record when they hit
the road this week against
Turner County. Kick-off will
be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept.2
in Ashburn.
