by Evelyn Ludvgison
Q. Whatever happened to “Kingdom
Hospital,” Stephen King’s show on ABC?
Will it be back this season? I was really
into that show. Kent J.
A. Much to King's disappointment, the
show will not be back. It started out very
strongly ratings-wise, but by the second
airing, it took a serious nosedive. Viewers
left in droves, and the rest of the run was
very lackluster.
Q. I see where a woman will be chal
lenging Hillary Clinton for her senate seat
in New York. I’m from Michigan, so I
don’t know much about the woman. Who
is she, and what has she done politically?
Sarah K.
A. Jeanine Pirro, who is the Republican
challenger, serves as the district attorney
for Westchester County, just north of New
York City. She is known for her take-
no-prisoners attitude and has been quite
successful at her job. I’m surprised you
haven’t caught her on television. She’s
a frequent commentator on legal issues,
often appearing on MSNBC. Although
she’s made a few stumbles coming out of
the gate, it's expected that Jeanine will
fight hard to win this race. Most people
don’t believe she will ultimately do it, but
it will be a race to watch. You can bet on
that.
One interesting thing about this is,
Jeanine’s husband, Al, is a convicted ex
felon. And we all know about Bill Clin
ton, Hillary’s hubby. Will this factor in?
Some in the know think it will.
Q. I’ve been a fan of Mark Consuelos
ever since his days on “All My Children”
as Mateo Santos. I adore his work on
“Missing,” too. Is it true he and his wife,
Kelly Ripa, are breaking up? I think I
heard that somewhere along the line. Gil
lian D.
A. Every so often, the tabloids just love
to spread this rumor about the comely
co-host of Regis Philbin’s ABC morning
show. The truth is, Kelly and Mark are
happily married. In fact, Mark recently
said, in response to a question about
shooting his show, “After the first year,
the shine wears off a little bit, the things
that were new and exciting have become
familiar, and being away from your fam
ily becomes more taxing.” “Missing” is
shot in Toronto, far from his and Kelly’s
N.Y.C. home. Don’t fret, though. Mark is
staying with the show and is enthusiastic
about it. He just misses Kelly and their
three kids when he has to be away so
much.
Q. The actor who plays Dr. Spencer
Truman on “One Life to Live” looks so
familiar to me, but I can’t quite place
him. Who is he? Bea L.
A. He should look familiar. That’s Paul
Satterfield, who played Pierce on “The
Bold and the Beautiful”
and Dillon’s father, Paul
Hornsby, on “General
Hospital.” You prob
ably also caught him in
his prime-time soaps,
“Pacific Palisades,”
“Savannah” and “Hotel
Malibu.”
Q. Is it true that this is
the final season for “Will
& Grace”? I came into
the show only two years
ago, and I’m upset about
this. How many years
has it been on, and can I
hope that, maybe, they’ll
decide to do another
season just like they did
on “Friends”? Irene G.
A. “Will & Grace” is
in its eighth, and yes,
final season. I doubt
they’ll go the “Friends”
route since many feel
the show has lost a lot in
the past few years and is
just sort of coasting.
