June 18-20. They studied God’s word, played awesome games, made cool crafts, danced to fun
songs, worshipped with music, and enjoyed great snacks. Water day was a blast!

The Rogers family of Lee
County is moving to Min
neapolis, North Carolina.
Chad Rogers has accepted
the position of Pastor to Stu
dents at Minneapolis Baptist
Church and will also be
the director of Candlestick
Retreat Center.
Chad has been a fifth
grade teacher at Baker
County Elementary School
for the past 15 years and
was the student pastor of
New Generations Church in
Albany.
Jill Rogers will be leading
the children’s ministry and
helping with the daily opera
tions at the retreat center. Jill
has been a teacher at Sher
wood Christian Academy for
the past 11 years.
Leedia Rogers (age 11),
Lani Rogers (age 9), and
Griffin Rogers (age 7) have
all attended Sherwood
Christian Academy but look
forward to making new
friends and meeting new
people at the retreat center.
Candlestick Retreat Center
is located in an old school
which the church purchased
several years ago. It has
been completely remodeled
and has a large commer
cial kitchen and cafeteria.

the 2008 spring semester.

was held on May 10, 2008 at
the University of Georgia.

that Kinady Wood from
Shelby, Alabama, has been
recognized by the Linked
States Achievement Acade
my as a student of excellence
in journalism, leadership and
honor roll.
This is a prestigious honor
very few students can hope to
attain. In fact, the Academy
recognizes fewer than ten
percent of all American high
school students.
Kinady, who attends
Columbina Middle School,
was nominated for this honor
by Jason Mayfield, a teacher
at the school. Kinady will
appear in the Linked States
Achievement Academy’s
Official Yearbook which is
published nationally.
Kinady is the daughter of
James Wood and Christy
Isbell from Shelby, Alabama.
Her grandparents are Vicki
and Jim Wood of Valeson-
ville, Alabama and Sheila
Walker of Leesburg, Geor

is about 30 minutes from
Boone, North Carolina.
Besides skiing, snow board
ing, and snow tubing, there
are numerous other activities
that are available. Whitewa
ter rafting, horseback riding,
and hiking the Appalachian
Trail are just a few summer
activities available. And
you can always check out
the leaves changing colors
at Grandfather Mountain or
on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
They are both located near
the retreat center. But the
best part is just sitting on the
porch enjoying the view and
no gnats.

house. Advance Voting allows for vot
ers to cast their ballot in person, without
giving a reason, on the Monday through
Friday prior to an election. Advanced
voting will be conducted on the touch
