Kinney Construction named
Small Business Of The Quarter

Kinney Construction has
been named Lee County
Chamber of Commerce
Small Business of the Sec
ond Quarter. The presenta
tion was made by the board
of directors and the ambas
sadors.
Kinney Construction Co.,
Inc. was established in 1987
as a partnership. Robert
Kinney serves as president
and is the sole owner of the
company.
In its early years, Kin
ney Construction Co., Inc.
concentrated primarily on
work at the Marine Corps
Logistics Base in Albany.
Over the years, Kin
ney Construction Co., Inc.
has completed numerous
school projects in Southwest
Georgia including several
in Dougherty County. Most
recently, they completed the
additions to Kinchafoonee
Primary School and Lee
County Primary School.
Kinney is currently reno
vating the Sumter County
board office, constructing
a new JROTC building and
adding on to the bus main
tenance facility in Sumter
County. In Lee County, they
are in the final stage on the
new Twin Oaks Elementary
School and are renovating
the old Twin Oaks Elemen
tary School as the new ninth
grade school.

Lee County Students to Participate in
Georgia’s End of Course Tests (EOCT)
Special to the Ledger
Lee County High School
will be administering the
End of Course Tests on
Thursday, June 26 and
Friday, June 27, 2008. All
tests will be administered
in the high school cafeteria.
Students that were absent
and missed an EOCT, and
students taking second
semester of these courses
in summer school will be
required to take the EOCT
for that course.
The EOCT courses are:
9th Grade Literature and
Composition, 11th Grade
Literature and Composition,
U. S. History, Economics,
Biology, Physical Science,
Geometry and Algebra I.

ing each EOCT is as follows:

The City of Leesburg will
hold a public hearing for the
budget at City Hall at 6:00
p.m. on June 25th.
The public is invited to attend.

• Lee County Utility Authority will meet Thursday, June
26 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Assembly
Room of the County Administration Building at 104 Les
lie Hwy. in Leesburg.
• Southwest GA Chapter of the American Red Cross is
holding a Baby-sitting Course on Saturday, July 12 at the
chapter office located at 500 Pine Ave., Albany. The class
is from 9 am to 4 pm, must be 12 years old, the cost is $50
and includes lunch. Pre-registration is required - for more
information call 436-4845.
• Lee County Department of Family and Children Services
board will meet Thursday, June 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lee
County DFCS office.
• Leesburg City Council will meet Tuesday, July 1 at 7:00
p.m. at the Leesburg City Hall.
• Lee County Commissioners will meet Tuesday, July 8 at
6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Assembly Room
of the County Administration Building at 104 Leslie Hwy.

• PFLAG - Albany meets the fourth Tuesday of each month
from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of Saints
John and Mark in Albany. For more information, please

• Lee County Board of Education will meet Monday, July
21 at 5:00 p.m. at the Board of Education office building
located at 126 Starksville Ave. in Leesburg.
• Lee County - Leesburg - Smithville Planning Commission
will meet Tuesday, July 15 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will
be held in the Assembly Room of the County Administra
tion Building at 104 Leslie Hwy. in Leesburg.
• The American Legion Post 182 Leesburg meets 7:00 p.m.
the first Monday of each month at the American Legion
Building (Hong Garden Restaurant) on Walnut Street. For

the standards in the QCC.
The purpose of the EOCT is
to provide diagnostic data in
support of improved student
achievement.

get a good night’s rest and
eat a nutritious breakfast
each morning.
