Jimmie Brown receives documents from Rachell Simmons of the Secretary
of State’s office in Atlanta on June 23rd which qualifies his candidacy in
the November General Election.
Brown Qualifies to Run
Special to the Ledger
Jimmie Brown officially
qualified on June 23rd at the
Georgia Secretary of State’s
office in Atlanta, as a can
didate to challenge incum
bent Superior Court Judge
Rucker Smith in this coming
November’s general elec
tion. Brown announced his
intention to run as early as
February. However, official
qualification did not occur
until the week of June 23rd.
Brown is the managing
partner of a law firm in
Albany. Originally from
the Cusseta area, he has
resided in the Southwestern
Circuit for approximately
24 years. Brown stated, “I
have been looking forward
to this campaign for quite
a while. The good folks in
our area deserve more from
their judicial system than
they are getting presently. At
a minimum, we deserve at
least the same services that
other circuits are getting.
I am running for an office
currently held by a man who
has had that job for the past
15 years. I live here and he
is my judge too. I can do a
better job, so I am running
for office. It is that simple.”
Brown stated, “Besides
the obvious qualities of
knowledge and fairness to
all, I think judges should be
respected and be respectful
to others. Judges should be
firm but not arrogant.”
