To be saved or not be
saved: That is the question.
When I was growing up,
most of the
preachers
spoke about
“getting
saved.’’
You were
either in or
out when
it came
to being a
Christian. If
you hadn’t been “saved,” you
were going to hell. The way
most of us understood it, one
could go to church all of his
life and not be a Christian.
You didn’t become a Chris
tian until you got saved.
Very seldom is the “saved”
word used any more. “Would
you like to receive the free
gift of eternal life?” Most
people don’t think they need
to be saved from anything.
Many have gone the way of
packaging the proposition
of heaven, not as a need, but
only as the ultimate experi
ence of self-actualization.
So what if a person doesn’t
opt for the celestial condo
minium where all rent has
been paid and the wellness
program is out of this world?
We all know there’s going
to be a foreclosure on the ter
restrial domain we call “the
body human.” “For the wag
es of sin is death”(Romans
6:23) and “All have sinned
and fall short of the glory
of God.”(Romans 3:23)
Suppose when we cash in
our chips it’s announced that
we don’t actually have chips
but bills. What if declaring
bankruptcy is not an option
at that time? “And cast the
unprofitable servant into
outer darkness. There will
be weeping and gnashing of
teeth.”(Matthew 25:30)
What if declaring bank
ruptcy is only an option
while you still have the
dwelling? And what if by
declaring bankruptcy and
asking that your debt be
forgiven you are granted
an eternal timeslot for the
heavenly condominium? The
Bible has a lot to say about
this concept of “saved.” That
makes it an important one.
Let’s look at a few of those
passages now.
“For it is good and accept
able in the sight of God our
Savior, who desires all men
to be saved and come to the
knowledge of the truth. For
there is one God and one
Mediator between God and
man, the Man Christ Jesus,
who gave Himself a ransom
for all, to be testified in due
time.”(l Timothy 2:3-6)
Christ Jesus gave Himself
a ransom for all. God desires
that all men be saved. In
“getting saved” one must
have “come to the knowledge
of the truth.” The truth is that
there is only One who can
pay the note on our house.
He ransomed those who
are saved. There are mil
lions who miss out on grants
because they just don’t know
how to access them. Here’s
the truth according to Christ
Jesus:
“’’Let not your heart be
troubled; you believe in
God, believe also in Me. In
My Father’s house are many
mansions; if it were not so,
I would have told you. I go
to prepare a place for you. I
will come again and receive
you to Myself; that where I
am, there you may be also.
And where I go you know
and the way you know.’
Thomas said to him, ‘Lord
we do not know where you
are going, and how can we
know the way?’ Jesus said to
him, “I am the way the truth
and the life. No one comes
to the Father except through
Me.”(John 14:1-6)
Every one needs a Savior.
Have you been saved? Ques
tions? (emali@juno.com)

From Bible, page2B
the altar of Baal, and because
he hath cut down the grove
that was by it. And Joash said
unto all that stood against
him, Will ye plead for Baal?
will ye save him? he that will
plead for him, let him be put
to death whilst it is yet morn
ing: if he be a god, let him
plead for himself, because
one hath cast down his altar.
Therefore on that day he
called him Jerubbaal, saying,
Let Baal plead against him,
because he hath thrown down
his altar.
Then all the Midianites
and the Amalekites and the
children of the east were gath
ered together, and went over,
and pitched in the valley of
Jezreel. But the Spirit of the
LORD came upon Gideon,
and he blew a trumpet; and
Abiezer was gathered after
him. And he sent messengers
throughout all Manasseh;
who also was gathered after
him: and he sent messengers
unto Asher, and unto Zebulun,
and unto Naphtali; and they
came up to meet them. And
Gideon said unto God, If thou
wilt save Israel by mine hand,
as thou hast said, Behold, I
will put a fleece of wool in
the floor; and if the dew be
on the fleece only, and it be
dry upon all the earth beside,
then shall I know that thou
wilt save Israel by mine hand,
as thou hast said. And it was
so: for he rose up early on the
morrow, and thrust the fleece
together, and wringed the dew
out of the fleece, a bowl full
of water. And Gideon said
unto God, Let not thine anger
be hot against me, and I will
speak but this once: let me
prove, I pray thee, but this
once with the fleece; let it now
be dry only upon the fleece,
and upon all the ground let
there be dew. And God did so
that night: for it was dry upon
the fleece only, and there was
dew on all the ground,
