The Tea Party made a difference for America.
The good Lord gave you a body that can stand
most anything. It's your mind you have to con
vince.
It is a shame that both Dennis Roland and Ms.
Egler could not serve us. They would shake up
the establishment.
Best of luck to Con. Bishop as he serves the
best interest of the citizens of our district.
Property owners can not afford to vote against
SPLOST. Why would anyone else?
South Georgia is going to lose representation on
the state and the national levels. Here's hoping
our local leaders will have an input and look out
for our interest.
What's the status on the conference center. It
would be nice to know that it will be an asset and
not another white elephant.
If Mr. Gladin knows of wrong doing by any of
the commissioners, I agree, he should file ethics
complaints.
Mike Kewon is a true gentleman. May we hear
from him again soon.
Please do not support the conference center.
We do not want it.
What does Mr. Carter spend the $ 20,000.00
the Board of Education gives him for the band at
the high school beside the booster monies?... It
is time for a change!!!
To the writer of "Gladin shut up." Did I
step on your toe? This is an easy process: If
you don't like what I write - Don't read it. I'm
glad to see you responding, though, its one more
person who might be awakening from apathy.
Now, get off your duff and become involved in
local government process and you shall surely
learn something.
Leesburg needs an event like Smithville's
Chicken Pie Festival. Remember they have real
fireworks for the Fourth of July also.
To answer the person concerned about the
Smithville police car being seen out of town at a
BBQ place. The officer in question is stopping by
to see his brother who owns the BBQ place.
Special to the Ledger
As the colder months
approach, the Georgia
Department of Human
Services (DHS) will once
again help Georgians strug
gling to keep up with the
cost of heating their homes.
DHS’s Low Income Home
Energy Assistance Program
(LIHEAP) has received ap
proximately $41.1 million
dollars in federal funds to
assist low-income, elderly
and disabled Georgians
with their heating bills.

Tax assessor update
As many Lee County
Citizens are aware, the tax
assessor records are avail
able online at www.qpublic.
net/ga/lee. The website host
has implemented a program
that will update informa
tion automatically on a
weekly basis. The informa
tion that will primarily be
updated weekly will be the
owner and sale informa
tion. The staff of the tax
assessor’s office is looking
forward to being able to
provide more accurate and
up to date information on
the website.
The staff is in the process
of digitizing the old mylars
that are drawn on a 1980
flight. As of now, the staff
is planning to put the new
maps on a 2006 flight, but
there is a possibility of
acquiring an even newer
flight. The maps will be
available on the website,
and the capability to print
many different sizes and
views in the office will
be available. This project
should be completed in the
near future, and the depart
ment will do their best to
get the word out when it is
completed.
