Shelter’s “Pet of the Week’’
is a female Collie Mix
named Lacy. She is about
9 months old and would
love to find a loving fam
ily to take her home. She
loves attention and loves
to play. Lacy has already
been spayed, has a cur
rent rabies shot and also a
microchip so she is ready
to go. She tested negative
for heartworms also. She
is a very lovable dog. Stop
by and see Lacy and all the
other animals we have for
adoption. We have a wide
variety of dogs and cats
from small to large. We

The Leesburg Police
Department and the Lee
County Sheriff’s Office are
conducting their annual
Toy Drive for Foster Chil
dren. Toys that are contrib
uted will be given to foster
children served by the
Lee County Department
of Family and Children
Services. Several conve
nient businesses located
throughout Lee County are
serving as drop-off sites for
toys for the foster children.

have to lay on the hard

Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Dixon, of Lee County,
announce the engagement
of their daughter, Miranda
Dixon, to Kalan Law. Mr.
Law is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Law, of Leslie,
Georgia, and Mr. and Mrs.
Lynwood McClung of
Plains, Georgia.
Miss Dixon is the
granddaughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Larry Harrell of
Lee County and Mr. and
Mrs. Rueben Duckworth
of Ashburn, Mr. Larry
Dixon of Kennesaw and
the late Mary Ann Black
of Newnan. She has two
brothers, Rustie and Rob
bie Dixon. Miss Dixon is
a 2009 graduate of Lee
County High School. She is
a student at Darton College
where she is pursuing a
degree in nursing.
Mr. Law is the grandson
of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Law of
Leslie and Mrs. Mary Jane
Sangster and the late Mr.
Jene Sangster of Americus.
He is the brother of Chris
Law and Megan Law.
Mr. Law will be leaving
for the Army in January.
The wedding is planned
December 4, 2010 at 4:00
p.m. at Leslie Baptist
Church. A reception will
immediately follow in the
church reception hall.

• Lee County Commissioners will hold a special
called meeting Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at
5:30 p.m. to discuss SPLOST 2013.
• Lee County Utility Authority will meet Thursday,
November 18 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held
at the T. Page Tharp Governmental Building, Opal
Cannon Auditorium, 102 Starksville Avenue North,
Leesburg.
• Smithville City Council will meet Thursday, No
vember 18, at 7:00 p.m. at the Smithville City Hall.
• National Active and Retired Federal Employees,
Chapter 643 Albany will meet on Wednesday, No
vember 17th - 11:30 at Ole Times Buffet. Speaker
