Thanks to the preacher for speaking out about
the type of performances that are performed on

performed by students.
It is amazing how our public officials think the
extra tax they impose upon us, becomes their
"wish list", for projects that should be funded
from all the other tax money being collected, and
squandered. Learn to live within your means, as
we taxpayers have to do.
The person complaining about Mr. Carter
spending money from the board of education on
the band has never had a child participate in the
band or any of the competitive sports. If they
had, they would know that tax payer money can
not be used for those things.
Taxes pay for music classes and physical educa
tion classes, but taxes do not pay for marching
band instruments, uniforms or travel. Ditto for
the various sports teams. Therefore, booster
clubs are needed to help raise the money for
these groups to participate in competition. I had
two children in band and one in sports and spent
many years in booster clubs.
I just watched a story on the "news" about a
boy flying the American flag in California on his
bike at school, to honor Veterans in his family. He
had to take it off cause it might offend someone
- I say TOUCH. This is America and the Stars
and Stripes is our flag if you don't like it go
home. When you get there fly your flag.
Thank you, Mike Lyons, for making a stand
against the low morals in our high school theatre
dept. Isn't it funny that we can't have public
prayer at a ball game but it seems ok to have
vulgarity and bad language in theatrical produc
tions? No! it isn't funny at all. I don't care what
is on the tube, we don't have to celebrate it or
tolerate it in our schools just because low stan
dards permiate the media. We (I) don't care how
they do it in New York City.

Thank you, Mary Egler, for your comment, “
Take an interest remember the county
works for the citizens." That is right-on think
ing. We need a lot of citizens to take your advice
and keep the commis
sion reminded that it
is our commission and
they are our trusted
servants.
KJ Smith, your letter
in last week's paper was
so beautiful. It's such
an inspiration for hear
