Marcia Wright Lane is the daughter of Rev. Lem and Mrs. Marie Wright. She comes from a family of educators. Her mother, Marie, retired from Lee County High in 1999. Her sister teaches in Crisp County, and she has several aunts, uncles, and cousins that are employed as educators as well. Marcia graduated with honors from Lee County High School in 1997. After gradu ation she married her high school sweetheart, Christo pher Lane, and moved away to Virginia. While in Virginia, she attended Old Dominion University. After Chris was deployed overseas, Marcia returned home and graduated with a BS in Mathematics with a teacher certification from Georgia Southwestern State University. Marcia is entering her 7th year of teaching this year. All of her teaching experience has been with the Lee County School System. She worked for 2 years teaching 8th grade math at LCMS. She then worked a year teaching Alge bra at LCHS. She currently teaches Math 1 at the Ninth Grade campus. She has been with the Ninth Grade campus since it opened. She has a daughter, Kam- ryn, an upcoming 5th grader at Twin Oaks Elementary School and a son, Alex, who will be in kindergarten this year at Kinchafoonee Primary School. In her spare time, Marcia loves to cook, bake cakes, and travel. Marcia finds, like most educators, that the greatest challenge is getting students to become motivated about their education. She often feels as though she cares about her students more than they care about themselves. Her greatest reward came last year when EOCT scores came in and she had a student to exceed the Math 1 exam when he had failed the Math CRCT the previous year. The look on his face alone let her knew that the countless hours of planning, prepar ing lessons, and time spent giving afterschool help to her students was all worth it. Marcia doesn’t have any plans to do anything else other than teach. She feels as though she has the best impact on students while working directly with them in the classroom. She would like to be remembered as a teacher who genuinely cares for her students and their educa tion. Marcia believes that if the student sees that you are interested in them, they will be more likely to work harder for you. The faculty and staff of the Ninth Grade Campus are proud to have Marcia Lane serving as their 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year. 600 ■V*: 4V7 LCHS 9th Grade Campus Teacher of the Year Marcia Lane 2011-2012 School bus driver picks up $10,000 win BANK of LEE COUNTY A Division of Bank of Terrell To Subscribe Call 229-759-2413 Doherty, Duggan & Rouse Insurors Special to the Ledger A Lee County school bus driver has stopped to pick up a $10,000 Georgia Lottery prize.
