* Bring the entertain
ment - Fans often tailgate
for several hours on game
day, so make sure there
are plenty of activities for
the group. Popular games
such as corn-hole (bean
bag toss), washers and
ladder toss are perfect for
tailgating festivities, and
be sure to have a radio or

get everyone excited for

Ramlins
By Jack Wingate
Wingate’s Fishing Lodge
Well, I’m feeling good
enuf to rite the Ramlins
this week. Thank goodness!
I’ve got a lot of information
for you.
Allan Carter says there
are more ducks on the
lake than he’s ever seen
and he was here before it
was a lake. He caught a 35
lb. Flathead while he was
lookin’ at all those ducks.
He also sed he counted
28 big gators in one cove!
Those gator hunters musta
missed some.
Looks like winter is
cornin’. The Monarch but
terflies are moving down
the Appalachicola River by
the millions and the Dog
Fennels are hxin’ to bloom
which means we’ll have a
white frost within 30 days.
The Freshwater Shrimp
are hatching in the marina
and moving out into the
grass in the lake which is a
sure sign that the coves will
be filling up with Crappie.
Carl Keim and Ray Davis
have both been out lately
catching messes of them.
The Talquin Hookers
fished out of Wingate’s
Lodge on Saterday. Brenda
Taylor took first place with
9.91 lbs., Lonnie Walsh
took second with 7.05 lbs.
and Sarah Dunn took third
with 3.13 lbs. Ms. Sarah
also had Big Fish at 2.93
lbs.
The Bainbridge Bass
Club fished on the lake on
Saterday too with Cedric
Suber taking first with
around 3 lbs., Joey Farris
taking second with around
2 Vi lbs. and Richard
Predmore taking third with
around 1 lb. Looks like the
ladies outfished the men
this weekend.
13 year old Matthew
Becker and his dad, Bryan,
of Waverly Hall, GA took
a 7’ A” Gator on Saterday
night and Lee Atkins of
McDonough, GA took a
8’ 6” Gator on Wednesday
night.
For those of you who
don’t know. I’ve been
diagnosed as having stage
4 prostate cancer. I’m in
pretty good spirits and
will continue to write for
as long as I’m up to it. Re
member me in your prayers,
and keep on fishin’!

Here
are some
of Palm
er’s top
tips for
a sweet
tailgate:
* Grab
a spot
early -
Leave
ample
time to secure a spot on
the tailgating grounds
and arrive no later than
90 minutes before kick
off. The closer you are
to game time, the more
likely you will be caught
in game day traffic, which
will impact tailgating
plans.
* Have the right equip
ment - Just as players need
proper pads and helmets
on the field, tailgaters
need proper cooking
equipment! Portable grills,
coolers, aluminum grilling
utensils and storage for
leftovers are a must for
tailgate season. Make
sure to use separate cook
ers for food and beverages
to avoid any confusion.
* Don’t forget the des
sert - A great meal with
friends and family ends
with dessert, and tail-
gating is no exception!
S’mores are easy to make
by using the “build it,
wrap it, grill it” prepara
tion method. Simply build
S’mores using Hershey’s
Milk Chocolate bars,
Kraft Jet-Puffed Marsh
mallows and Honey Maid
Graham Crackers, wrap
