Jack Brownlee had a
surprising and enjoyable
experience recently. Jack
and his wife, Judy, were
watching TV on October 11
around 4:45 p.m. when the
phone rang.
Judy answered the phone
and after a minute or so she
ask Brownlee if he wanted
to talk to Presidential
hopeful Mitt Romney and
New Jersey Governor Chris
Christie. Brownlee laughed
and said, “What?”
He took the phone and lis
tened to a recorded message
telling about a live national
telephone conference with
Romney and Christie who
would be taking questions.
The recording stated that
if you wanted to comment
or submit a question press
star 3 on the phone dial.
Shortly thereafter the mod
erator came on and asked
for Brownlee’s name and
location.
Brownlee was then asked
what was his question.
Brownlee asked “I really
will not get to talk with
Romney or Christie, will I?”
He was told “yes you will”.
At 5 p.m. sharp, Mitt
Romney came on the phone
live and began the confer
ence by thanking Christie
for supporting him in
his quest to be President.
Romney then stated that he
must leave to prepare for
the Presidential Debate that
evening, and turned every
thing over to Christie.
Gov. Christie took a call
from Oklahoma first and
then the moderator came
on and said, “We have a
call from Jack in Georgia, I
believe”. Gov. Christie said,
“Hello,” and Brownlee an
swered, “ I am Jack Brown
lee, retired principal from
Leesburg, Georgia. I have
a comment and a question
- My wife, Judy and I were
hoping you would enter the
Presidential race, but since
you chose not to run, my
question is: if Mitt Romney
wins our party’s nomination
would you consider accept
ing the nomination for Vice-
President, if asked?”
Brownlee also added that
he thought that would be an
unbeatable ticket. Christie
congratulated Brownlee on
his career in education and
thanked him and his wife
for their support for Presi
dent as many others have
also done.
He also stated that he
plans to finish his term as
Governor of New Jersey,
however, he did not say no
to the Vice- President ques
tion. Brownlee closed the
conversation by telling Gov.
Christ that it was an honor
and privilege to speak with
him.
