Lee County Cross Country Girls are Region Champs
By Jennifer Perkins
October brings
many things into
our lives, apples,
hayrides, pumpkin-
spiced everything, and
championship cross
country races. The
cross-country season
begins in August, the
weather is hot, humid,
and overbearing. All
season coaches and
runners alike dream
of the elusive cooler
temperatures which
can help bring about
speedy race times.
In truth, the fast race
times come from a full
season of consistent
training and the dedi
cation of the athletes to
push themselves both
mentally and physi
cally. Every sport has
a vision for the perfect
event scenario, for

Trojans Control Their Own Destiny
By Steve Glover
Touchdown Club
Well after an off week,
your Lee County Tro
jans’ road to the playoffs
became much clearer.
The Trojans beat Coffee
County this week and
we are in the Playoffs, as
the number 3 seed. If we
lose to Coffee County
we will need Hous
ton County to lose to
Valdosta. In that case we
would enter the playoffs
as 4th seed. Our Trojans
would be eliminated if
we lose to Coffee and
Houston beats Valdosta.
This week our Tro
jans will travel to Doug
las, Georgia, to take
on the Coffee County
Trojans who dropped
a tough contest to
Valdosta last week 15 to
10. Our Trojans had last
week off to try and get
some banged up players
healthy for this week’s
big showdown.
Fabrizio said, “We
took last week and tried
to focus on our own
execution and clean
up some things before
focusing on the Coffee
Trojans this week”.
I got the privilege to
scout the Coffee Trojans
with Coach Fabrizio,
as they took on the
Valdosta Wildcats, and
we saw a very solid, well
coached team. The Cof
fee Trojans lost consecu
tive games to Northside
17-14 and Valdosta
15-10, so they have
played the top two teams
in the state, very tough.
This will be a very good
matchup of two very
good defenses and solid
running games.
Besides sharing the
Trojan name we have
many similarities, but
the most obvious is we
both need a win to guar
antee a playoff spot.
This will be another
tough game for our Tro
jan team and we need to
take a large crowd the
short distance to support
these players. I believe
we will win this game
and we are the better
team, but will need to
play a complete game to
win this game. The kick
off is scheduled for 7:30
PM in Douglas, Georgia.
