Top Acting Honors for
Lee County High School

Lee County High
School’s Palladium Play
ers garnered the runner-
up trophy at the Region
1-AAAAAA One-Act
Competition in October.
The lead performers in
the group’s production
of Mel Brooks’ 1960s
musical All American
were honored with the
top acting awards of the
competition. LCHS’s
Josh Gerstel, a senior,
and Shelby Bennet, a
sophomore, were named
the region’s Best Ac
tor and Best Actress,
respectively. Two addi
tional Lee County actors,
seniors Cole Dziedzic
and Josh Jimmerson,
were recognized for their
performances and named
to the All-Region Cast.
Lee County High
School hosted the region
play competition on
October 27. The day
long contest featured
performances from all
live Level 6A schools in
the Georgia High School
Association’s Region
1. The Champion play
was Northside-Warner
Robins High School’s
High School.
The “Stars ‘N Stripes”
Concert on the Lawn
will include games,
rides, vendors, and
music by the Lee County
Middle School and High
School Bands, along
with a special perfor
mance by participants in
the “Spirit and Sparkle”
color guard and dance
line camp. The event
is free, and organizers
hope that families will
come out and enjoy a
day of fun while saying
“thank you” to our both
our military veteran and
active duty members.
The event opens at 2
p.m., with performances
by the “Spirit and
Sparkle” camp partici
pants, followed imme
diately by the concert
featuring various bands
from LCMS East, LCMS
West, and LCHS Jazz,
Drumline, Marching
Band, and Wind En
semble. We encourage
the community to bring
a lawn chair or picnic
blanket, and enjoy the
fun and patriotic pro
gram the whole family
will enjoy. The concert
will end at 5:15 pm.
Rachals Wins Re-election To A Third Term
Sheriff Reggie D. Ra
chals won his third elec
tion to serve as sheriff
of Lee County, Georgia
Tuesday, November 9,
2016. The sheriff said
he has been honored to
serve the citizens of Lee
County as Sheriff.
Reggie Rachals started
his law enforcement
career in 1982 with the
Albany Police Depart
ment. In April of 1989,
he became a deputy with
the Lee County Sher
iff’s Office. Through the
years, he was promoted
and achieved the rank
of Major of the uniform
division. He aspired
to hold the prestigious
office of the Sheriff and
was given
that oppor
tunity by the
citizens of
Lee County
in 2008.
Since tak
ing office
in January
2009, Sher
iff Rachals
continues
to strive
to make Lee County
a community where
people want to reside
and raise their families.
Reggie Rachals is
known as a “working”
Sheriff. He believes
that a success
ful Sheriff’s
Office must be
developed and
maintained by
hard work by
him and the
people that
work at the Lee
County Sher
iff’s Office.
According to
Sheriff Ra
chals, the Lee County
Sheriff’s Office staff is
one of the most profes
sional and innovated
in the state of Georgia.
Sheriff Rachals said he
is committed to continu
ally training the deputies
and other staff in the
best ways to protect and
serve Lee County.
Sheriff Rachals said
that he gives all the
glory to God for his
success. Without God,
Reggie Rachals said that
he would not be the man
he is today.
The sheriff said that
he truly loves Lee Coun
ty and looks forward to
serving the people of
Lee County for the next
four years.

Northside will vie for the
state one-act play title on
November 12.
Lee County’s produc
tion featured a cast of
more than 30 high school
performers, and the show
was directed by the the
atre arts director Dotty
Davis. Kevin Blaise,
music and drama teacher
at Lee County Middle
School-West, directed
the vocal performances.
Robby Davis was the
technical director and de
signer for the production.
The show was produced
with the support of adults
in the Palladium Drama
Boosters, led by Elaine
Ruckel, Lesley Parham,
and Leslie Dziedzic.
All American, writ
ten by Mel Brooks, with
music by Charles Strouse
and Lee Adams—the
musical team that created
Bye, Bye Birdie—tells the
story of Professor Lodor-
ski, an immigrant to the
LT.S. who takes a position
teaching engineering at
the Southern Baptist In
stitute of Technology and
winds up filling in as the
school’s football coach.
He uses his knowledge of
engineering principles to

The cast and crew of ALL AMERICAN, Region
1-6A Runner-Up
lead the team to his
toric success. In typical
musical-theatre tradition,
he finds love along the
way but, blinded by hu
bris, he jeopardizes that
love and his new-found
success. Of course, all
ends well for Lodorski,
the team, and the school,
and it’s topped off with a
musical finale. Large and
supportive local audi
ences turned out to see
the three preview perfor
mances of All American
during the last week of
October.

LCMS East
Veterans
Special to the Ledger
Lee County Middle
School East will honor
Veterans on Lriday,
November 11 at 10:00
AM. The assembly will
include an address by
one of their own vet
erans, Retired Marine
Chief Warrant Officer
III, Brice McMinn, as
well as student speakers
who were involved in
the Patriot’s Pen essay
contest and members of
the Student Government
Association. The LCMS
East chorus and band
Program
will perform patriotic
selections throughout the
program.
The LCMS East
students and staff look
forward to this event
each year so that they
may express their honor,
respect, and appreciation
for all veterans who have
selflessly given so much
to America. All veter
ans who have served in
any of the branches of
our military and their
families are invited to
attend this special day of
recognition.
