Lee County Middle School West is proud to announce that two
students placed at the Georgia National Fair in Youth Art. Olivia
Luke (7th grade) received “Third Place” in the Photography Division
and Haley Jackson (8th grade) received “Honorable Mention” in the
Monochrome Photography Division. Both students discovered their
talent in photography when taking a digital photography class taught
by art teacher, Lindsey Tucker. Photography is offered every nine
weeks during WIN (What I Need) time at LCMS West.

During their meeting
Tuesday night, Novem
ber 8, the Lee County
commissioners approved
a Resolution naming the
U.S. Highway 19 Boat
Landing Park the Sutton
Landing.
Lance Corporal Steven
Sutton, a 2007 gradu
ate of Lee County High
School, joined the
United States Marines in
2009. He was a mortar-
man assigned to the 15'
Batallion, 8th Marine
Regiment of the 2 d
Marine Division, Camp
Lejeune, North Caro
lina. Lance Corporal
Steven Sutton provided
faithful and honorable
service to the people
of Lee County, State of
Georgia, and the United
States of America, serv
ing dutifully and making
the ultimate sacrifice
on America’s behalf,
on May 26, 2012, while
conducting combat
operations in Helmund
province.
During their meeting
Tuesday night, No
vember 8, the county
commissioners voted
to donate a 1991 Hyster
C- 530-A Traffic Roller,
which they declared as
surplus, to Worth Coun
ty. The pneumatic roller,
that is not being used by
Lee County, will help
with the development
and maintenance of the
streets tremendously ac
cording to Alan Grind-
staff, Worth County
Administrator.
The commissioners
reappointed Dr. Robert
Clay and Ellen Phelps to
the Lee County Health
Board for a six year
term. Their current
term expires December
31.
The commissioners
appointed Bobby Don
nelly to fill the unex
pired four-year term
of Gary Harrell to the
Development Authority.
The term will expire
May 31, 2020. A letter
from Greg Crowder,
Chairman, Development
Authority Board, stated
that Gary Harrell moved
to Milledgeville, Geor
gia recently and submit
ted his resignation to the
Development Authority.
Bobby Donnelly has the
Professional Engineer’s
Certification and is a
Principle with Lanier
Engineering in Albany,
Georgia.
The commissioners
reviewed the Georgia
Power Utility Relocation
Agreement for Forrester
Parkway Extension
Phase II/ Westover Road
Connector Phase II.
Georgia Power will re
move, relocate or make
certain adjustments to
the company’s existing
facilities including but
not limited to over
head and underground
electric transmission,
distribution and commu
nication lines, towers,
frames, poles, facilities,
wires, transformers, ser
vice pedestals, appara
tus, manholes, conduits,
fixtures, appliances,
cables and protective
wires and devices. The
cost to the county for
the power company to
make the changes will
be $49,635.00.
The commissioners
approved a maintenance
agreement from ESS
to maintain the HVAC
unit/controls at the jail.
