Page 6B, The Lee County Ledger, Wednesday, July 28,2021 Soul Food from the Hood by Keith Hood “You’re not supposed to judge!” “He is without sin, let him cast the first stone!” “Judge not lest you be judged.” “I don’t like going to the self-righteous churches be cause all they do is judge you!” I guess judgment is a two-way street. Or do those who judge church people not realize that they have more of their own fin gers pointing back than the one finger they point at those they condemn? It’s a two-way street. It is true Christians should not judge the world because they are sinners. Yes, I said it. The world is sinners. So are church people. It’s not that I get this rush out of throwing stones. I’m just trying to see this thing as truthfully as I can. “For all have sinned and fall short of Keith Hood the glory of God.”(Ro- mans 3:23) All. “Well that’s hate speech!” Who are you to judge? Are Christians sup posed to judge the peo ple who don’t join them in church? I don’t think so. Members of the Body of Christ, howev er, are to hold ourselves accountable. Paul has some words for a church back when he wrote some of the Bible. It was a very tolerant church. They didn’t judge any body. They wanted to prove how liberal they were. They were very proud of themselves for it. So Paul sent them a letter. What should the church be like? “It is actually report ed that there is sexual immorality among you, and such immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles (the unchurched), that a man has his father’s wife! And you are puffed up (proud), and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from you.”(I Corinthi ans 5:1-2) Paul is calling for church discipline. He is rebuking them for the continual wink and nod that they give this condition. Furthermore, Paul calls it for what it is. He does what a true leader has to. “For indeed I am absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed.”(v3) Christians are to hold each other accountable. Period. If you have followed the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and He is now your Lord, you are to live by a higher standard. When we repent it means to turn around. To leave the sin. Some say a formula and trust the potion. There will come a day when Jesus says to them, “Depart from Me, I never knew you.”(Mat- thew 7:23) It is sad that many of these people are running institutions they call “the Church” when it is not the Body of Christ. What does the true Body of Christ look like? “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”(I Peter 2:9-10) To be the Body of Christ, these sexual sins must be held ac countable: fornication, adultery, homosexuality, pedophilia, incest. It’s in the Bible. It’s doc trine. “That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ.”(Ephe- sians 4:14-15) iJttS SPORTS IjoHAA ttl ^I&cmvl SwpfxUen Since 1991! Keep a small bottle of hand sanitiz er in lunch boxes and backpacks for convenient sanitizing. In a Dorm Room Create a Home Away from Home. Moving away from home and adjusting to living alone can be challenging for college students, but the transition can be made a bit easier by making their dorm feel like home. Personalize the space by hanging family photos, canvases with fun colors and patterns or string lights. If you’re worried about paint chips on the wall, try hanging items with Nano-Grab Gel Tape. The multi-purpose solution holds up to 20 pounds and can be used on a variety of surfaces, without leaving behind a sticky residue. Ensure Proper Nutri tion. Getting adequate sleep and proper nutrition are necessary for fight ing colds and flus while living in close quarters with others. Kids, from page 5B sold millions and landed her on the cover of Time magazine, much to the ire of women who equate submission with subservi ence. “Submission is my choice,” Morgan said. Think about this: If you think submitting to your husband is difficult, think about Jesus submitting to his Father in dying on the cross for our sins. Submission is at the heart of every Christian’s salva tion. Jesus forgave when he could have retaliated. Memorize this truth: “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:22). Ask this question: Can you submit to your husband even when you think he’s being unwise or unfair, and trust God to honor your obedience?
