that thou
mayest bring

And thou

The
Baptist
preacher, F.B.
Meyer, the
contempo
rary of D.L.
Moody and
A.C. Dixon,
once said,
“We touch
men most
when we
most touch
God.” We
are currently
living in a
world that
needs the
touch of some
born again,
Bible-be-
lieving Christians. The
problem - most Chris
tians, including pastors,
are trying to get in touch
with
cul
ture
and be
hip,
cool,
and
rele
vant
Jonathan M. LaBarge
in
stead
of try
ing to get in touch with
the God of Heaven and
be holy, compassionate,
and real. We do not
need to be more in touch
with the culture, but
rather, we need to know
God more intimately. He
alone has the power to
cancel and change the
rotten and sinful cul
ture we find ourselves
living in. Christians and
preachers need to quit
becoming just a better
imitation of the world
and the culture around
them and get in touch
once again with God.
Jethro gave his son-in-
law, Moses, some good
advice - If you want to
lead the people around
you properly then get
to God who will teach
you what they need to
know and the way they
should go. You want
to lead your family in
a God-honoring way?
Then get to God and
His Word. You want to
prosper in your busi
ness dealings with this
world? Then get to God
and His Word. You want
to see your commu
nity and your culture
changed? Then get to
God and His Word.
Everybody it seems
today wants to be
an “influencer”. The
greatest influencer is the
man or woman who has
influenced someone else
for God. The greatest
influence a mother and
father can have
on their children
is to influence
them to live for
Christ. To influ
ence you must get
intimate. Sunday
morning church
is not enough to
counteract the
ungodly world and
culture around
you. Sunday morn
ing, Sunday night, and
Wednesday night church
is not enough to drive
back the Satanic forc
es of evil surrounding
your family. It is going
to take you coming in
touch with God thru His
Word daily; taking the
time to talk to Him in
prayer and Him talking
to you through His Word
by His Spirit. Spending
time alone with God is
never wasted time. If
you want to touch the
world around you, then
take the hand of God
who created it. Touch
God and you will touch
men.
