always seeing his friends
and fellow golfers.
He was a hard worker,
dedicated to his job and
family. He served as a
Boy Scout Leader in
Cuthbert, GA for many
years. He loved playing
golf, hunting, fishing and
spending time with his
family.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, Jim
and Othell Fulford, sister
Laura Faye Schramm
and son, Patrick Fulford.
He is survived by his
wife, Ellen Downs, son
Jim Fulford, III (Sar
ah), daughter, Audrae
Dollar, step - daughter,
Sara Cox, grandchildren
Nick Kendall (Virgina),
Kaytlyn Roberts (Ryan),
Dustin Fulford (Mad
ison), Atticus Baum,
Landon Fulford, Willow
Fulford, Patrick Dollar,
Riley Dollar, Maleah
Cox, great-grand child
Ryan Roberts, and his
beloved dog Lucy. And
many other cousins.

Thompson Willis, 80,
of Albany, went home
to be with her Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ early
Monday morning, May
16, 2022.
Graveside funeral
services will be conduct
ed at 11:00 a.m., Friday,
May 20, 2022, at Mace
donia Baptist Church
Cemetery in Pelham with
Rev. Jack Wells officiat
ing. The family will visit
with friends following
the service.
Born June 27, 1941,
in Columbus, she was
the daughter of the late
Isaac and Trudie Wade
Thompson. She worked
as a mail carrier for the
United States Postal
Service for many years
and later went to work
for Brooks Furniture of
Albany. Affectionately
known as “Prissy,” she
loved the Lord dearly,
was of the Pentecostal
faith, and enjoyed Gospel
music. Prissy was a
prayer warrior to many
and spent hours seek
ing the Lord on other’s
behalf. A loving mother,
grandmother, sister, and
friend, she will be great
ly missed by all who
knew her.
Along with her par
ents, she was preceded
in death by her beloved
husband, Ivey J. Willis
Jr; son, Ivey J. Willis III;
and her sister, Marilyn
Lawson McClelland.
Those left to cherish
her memory include her
daughters, Jacinda Laing
(Tim) of Albany, Leanne
Hines (Dan) of PA, and
Gayla Mathis (Chris)
of Albany; 6 grandchil
dren, Ivy Laing, Hilary
Hines (Eric), Jamie
Laing, Christopher
Mathis (Brittany), Har-
ber Mathis, and Spen
cer Mathis; two great
grandchildren, Shepherd
and Billie; brother, Isaac
Thompson and Beth of
Dallas, TX; and a host
of extended family and
friends who loved her
dearly.

Phillip William “Bill”
Turnipseed, 83, of Al
bany, GA, died May 8,
2022 at his residence. A
memorial service was
held Saturday, May 14,
2022 at Mathews Funeral
Home. Rev. Lee Smith
officiated.
Bill was born in
Atlanta, GA to Phillip
and Ruth Turnipseed
on January 25, 1939. He
grew up in Atlanta and
graduated from Sylvan
Hills High School. Bill
continued his education
and graduated from
Southern Polytechnic
College as an Architec
tural Engineer.
Bill started his career
in his father’s business,
Phillip Turnipseed and
Sons, in Buckhead and
moved to Albany, GA in
1965. He started his own
business, Turnipseed
Carpet and Floor Cover
ing, that he owned and
operated for thirty-three
years.
Bill was a member of
Porterfield Memorial
United Methodist Church
and also attended Mt.
Gilead Baptist Church
in Ft. Gaines, GA when
they were at the Lake. He
was a charter member
of the Albany Evening
Lions Club in Albany, a
member of the Benevo
lent and Protective Order
of The Elk, #713 and
the Loyal Order of The
Moose # 1285. He spent
a large amount of his
time at his lake house,
and loved to entertain his
family and friends there
with fishing, boating, and
grilling. He could build
practically anything,
including his own drag
racing car. He was a big
fan of NASCAR, and
attended many Daytona
500 races in a camper
on the infield. He loved
riding his mower, and
playing slot machines.
He lived a very full life.
He said his greatest suc
cesses were his family,
and his many friends.

wife, Rachael Turnip
seed of Albany, GA, a
son, Jody Turnipseed
of Albany, GA and two
daughters, Terry (Rick)
Muggridge of Lee Coun
ty and Tracy Neal of
Lakeland, FL, his grand

Myrtle was born in
Donalsonville, GA to
James and Susie Storey
on August 29, 1946. Her
family moved to Albany,
GA where she was raised
and attended Albany
High School. She met an
US Airman, Bob Par
sons, who was stationed
in Albany and they mar
ried in 1962.
They moved to Lee
County, GA in 1978
where they raised their
family and where Myrtle
was active in their family
business, South Georgia
Heating and Cooling. She
loved caring for her fam
ily, kids and grandkids
and traveling to Biloxi.
Survivors include her

James Douglas “Doug”
Waddell, 83, of Albany,
GA, formerly of Athens,
GA and Dawson, GA,
died May 12, 2022 at
Willson Hospice House.
Funeral services was held
Sunday, May 15, 2022 at
the First Baptist Church
of Dawson. Rev. Currie
Spoon officiated. Inter
ment will follow in Cedar
Hill Cemetery.
Doug was born on Au
gust 22, 1938 in Dawson,
GA, to Marvin Eugene
Waddell, Sr. and Martha
Cora Priest Waddell. He
graduated from Terrell
County High School and
served in the Georgia Na
tional Guard. He married
Cheryl Martin in 1967
and during their career,

encompasses Chokee,
Leesburg, and Smith-

active in The Gideons
International. In addition
to his parents, he was
preceded in death by a
brother, Marvin Waddell.
