at the Sumter County Court
house. 500 West Lamar Street.
Americus. Georgia 31709, on
Wednesday. August 7. 2022. at

purpose of terminating your pa
rental rights. You are commanded
to lay any and all business aside
and to be and appear before the
Juvenile Court of Sumter County,
Georgia, and to remain in atten
dance from hour to hour, day to
day month to month, year to year,
and time to time, as said case may
be continued, until discharged by
the Court.
NOTICE OF EFFECT OF TER
MINATION JUDGMENT
Georgia law provides that you
can permanently lose your rights
as a parent. You are hereby noti
fied that the above styled action
seeking a Petition for Termination
of Parental Rights of said child
was filed in said Court on May 24,
2022 and an Order for Service by
Publication entered by the Court
on May 24, 2022. A free copy of
the TPR Petition can be obtained
from the Clerk of this Court
during business hours.
If you fail to appear, the Court
can terminate your rights in your
absence. If the Court at the trial
finds that the facts set out in the
Petition to Terminate Parental
Rights are true and that termina
tion of your rights will serve the
best interest of your children, the
Court can enter a judgment end
ing your rights to your children.
The general nature of the al
legations is that the children are
dependent children in that they
are neglected and/or abused,
and in need of the protection of
the Court; that the parents have
failed, without justifiable cause,
to care for the children, form a
parental bond with the children,
or provide support for the children
for the past six months or more.
The children are in the custody of
the Sumter County Department
of Family and Children Services.
If the judgment terminates your
parental rights, you will no longer
have any rights to your children.
This means that you will not have
the right to visit, contact or have
custody of your children or make
any decisions affecting your chil
dren or your children’s earnings
or property. Your children will
be legally free to be adopted by
someone else. Even if your pa
rental rights are terminated: (1)
You will still be responsible for
providing financial support (child
support payments) for your chil
dren’s care unless and until your
children are adopted and (2) your
children can still inherit from you
unless and until your children are
adopted.
This is a very serious matter.
You should contact an attorney
immediately so that you can be
prepared for the court hearing.
You have the right to hire an attor
ney and to have him or her repre
sent you. If you cannot afford to
hire an attorney, the court will ap
point an attorney if the court finds
that you are an indigent person.
Whether or not you decide to hire
an attorney, you have the right to
attend the hearing of your case,
to call witnesses on your behalf,
and to question those witnesses
brought against you. If you have
