Lee County Family Connection, Inc recipient of
$10,000 Donation from NextEra Energy Resources
Special to the Ledger
On Wednesday, May
18, representatives
from NextEra Energy
Resources, presented a
check in the amount of
$10,000 to Lee County
Family Connection, Inc.
in support of the Literate
Lee Coalition.
Literate Lee is the
Get Georgia Reading
Campaign Coalition for
Lee County as well as a
member of The Basics
Learning Network of
Georgia, and a Cam
paign for Grade Level
Reading community.
The focus of Literate
Lee is early literacy
intervention birth to age
8. Current programs
include Family Literacy
Nights and Books for
Kids Book Club. Lit
erate Lee will be im
plementing The Basics
this year, which is an
evidence-based program
designed by Harvard
Professor Ron Ferguson,
PhD. The Basics focuses
specifically on early in
tervention birth to age 3.

pandemic and funding
strains.”
